Best team Scranton has played is Rowan who sits at 43 NPI.  and that was an NPI.  Any Nescac with that cream puff of a schedule would do the same.  Scranton will be done by 2d round.  pick a tougher schedule AD and maybe you will get respect.

Cortland is sitting at 14 at the moment.

Not to mention Catholic.

A better argument might be only 2 opponents had a GFA rank in the top 100.  But in this year of parity even that doesn't carry much weight.  To only give up one goal all season is remarkable regardless of the schedule.

Scranton is a good team and well coached.

Kuiper had mentioned in a recent post that SoS was certainly a factor in Scranton's impressive GAA, but that shouldn't take away from how strong this Scranton side is. They are certainly owed respect for the season they have put together.

A week ago the Kenyon Owls were sitting on 1 win in the NCAC.  Today they qualified for the NCAC tourney.  Terrible season but somehow found a way to keep it going.

For those that like seeing the conference championship information all in one area without too much clicking around, here is the AQ Tracker that I created last year. First sheet is the AQ Tracker, second is a list of all the conference tournaments that get updated as they go on, and then the additional sheets are which conference matchups are happening on what days so it's easier to search.

Great resource, especially for those hoping to keep track of so-called "bid stealers."

For another great resource to just keep track of all the conference tournament dates (for both men and women), links to conference tournament web pages, and champions, Simple Coach's site has a Conference Tournament Central page that Oacalum developed

MIAC Quarterfinals

HALF:  Saint Johns (MN) 1 - Augsburg 0

Augsburg's one loss this year was a 5-2 thrashing by Saint John's on Sept. 30, so this shouldn't be completely unanticipated.  Nevertheless, Augsburg is 16-1-2 and the #3 seed, so it would be considered an early exit.  Maybe it's better for Augsburg to go out early since it's spot in the NCAA Tournament is likely secure, but I'm sure that's not the plan and it would take them out of a hosting spot I assume.  Should be an interesting second half (although behind a MIAC paywall).

UPDATE:  Saint Johns 1 - Augsburg 1 (77th minute)

Augsburg equalized on a goal in the 74th minute as they appear to be piling on pressure on the Johnnies.

UPDATE:  Saint Johns 2 - Augsburg 1 (87th minute)

Despite being down TWO men after red cards (second yellows) in the 74th and 75th minutes, Saint Johns regains the lead in the 86th minute as the two teams furiously barrage the goals with shots (Augsburg currently has 30 shots and Saint Johns 20)

FINAL:  Saint Johns 2 - Augsburg 1

Saint John's played the last 15 minutes with 9 men and still managed to score the winning goal and upset Augsburg, which will likely lose its chance to host in the NCAA tournament.

The MIAC re-seeds for the tournament after every round, but Saint John's is the Sixth seed so it should be playing at St. Olaf's on Thursday.  It will be a tough hill to climb given that it will be down two players, but stranger things have happened.  NPI bubble teams will be rooting for St. Olaf.

Wow, what an upset!

Augsburg will only drop to #4 in NPI from this though. They will still host first two rounds, but likely will fall a few more spaces as tourneys end. Still hosting though. Thanks for the game recap.

Where will Saint Johns end up?

paclassic89

These 2 teams really don't like each other.  The first Augsburg v St. Johns matchup had 6 yellows and 1 red.  8 yellows and 2 reds tonight

Lose to St. Olaf and their NPI is 56.07, almost exactly where the cutline was last year. Beat St. Olaf and lose to Macalester in final and NPI is up around 56.86 which will definitely be in.

Want to dream big? Beat St. Olaf AND Macalester and Johnnies jump over 58 in NPI and into the top 13 or so (hosting).

Congrats to the Johnnies.

Yeah, Augsburg did play them closer this time!

But, seriously, St. John's is 13-4-1. Flintham should be lock for MIAC COY in his first year at alma mater.

Don't know much about this program, but going to be down another next season.

Seemed like it was pretty decent.
