Thanks for the info CentPa. Sciac parent here just to let you know that while live events are behind paywall the sciac network does have replays available. Here is the PP vs Caltech one https://www.sciacnetwork.com/sagehens/?B=2823559
For some reason PP at CMS not up yet but that would be a better one to watch!

Consider the gauntlet that the #4 ranked and undefeated CWRU Spartans will soon face.

After Baldwin-Wallace on September 30th, this is their UAA schedule:

10/4: #15 Rochester
10/11: #5 Wash U-St. Louis
10/18: #8 Chicago
10/24: #11 Brandeis
10/26: N/R NYU
11/1: #2 Emory
11/8: #20 Carnegie-Mellon

I would say that the winner of this conference should be the odds on favorite to win it all!
CWRU Grad, Class of 1994, big D3 sports fan of that school.  Also a fan of Yeshiva U at the D3 level.  Fan of Houston and Illinois at the D1-FBS level.

All UAA teams are running the gauntlet this season...

Massey final projected strength of schedule:

No. 5 Chicago
No. 7 Brandeis
No. 9 Rochester
No. 15 Emory
No. 16 New York
No. 17 Case Western Reserve
No. 19 Washington University
No. 20 Carnegie Mellon

6 of 8 teams have yet to take a loss.

Thanks BusyBee, I didn't know archived games were available to view.

The UAA conference is always so tough and competitive year in and year out.  They get so tested and end up having such a high strength of schedule just going through their conference games!

CentPA

Wow - UAA just put all 8 teams in the conference into the top 25 in the National ranking - Poll 4 just released!

UAA conference teams and NESCAC conference teams account for over half of the top 25 with this recent poll (13 of 25)!

At 1:30 this afternoon, #2 Emory (10-0-0) will travel for a conference game to #16 Carnegie Mellon (9-1-1).  For both teams I think this is easily their toughest opponent so far this year.  Wish it wasn't behind a paywall (FloCollege).

Just saw that Christopher Newport lost their first game last night to Mary Washington 0-1 at home.  That should bump them (CNU) out of #3 where they have been all year.  I'm guessing Case Western and Wash U move up a slot.

CentPA

Wow - read the recap of the Christopher Newport loss (https://www.cnusports.com/news/2025/10/4/womens-soccer-mary-washington-trips-up-third-ranked-captains-1-0-snapping-51-game-unbeaten-streak-at-home.aspx)  That broke a 51 game unbeaten streak at home - the longest in NCAA soccer dating back to 2019!

Emory / Carnegie Mellon game just ended in a tie 0-0.  Stats looked fairly even with Emory having a slight advantage in shots and SOG: 5-3 and 4-2 respectively. I am not sure this tie would be enough to bump Emory out of #2.  So if I had to guess, on Tuesday the top 25 will start out: Messiah (#1), Emory (#2), Case Western (#3), and Wash U (#4).??  There is a chance Emory gets bumped but that would be tough with tying #16 on the road.

Nick Schmieg on the play-by-play, and Kevin Zielmanski on color for that one.  Game produced by the CMU (Carnegie Mellon) Sports Network, a subsidiary of the PAC (Presidents Athletic Conference) Sports Network.  The commentators did not mention that FloCollege was the exclusive streaming partner of Carnegie Mellon's UAA games-- they should be saying "This game brought to you by the CMU Sports Network on FloCollege (or FloSports), rather than just saying "This game brought to you by the CMU Sports Network."

Game has just gone final, with Emory and Carnegie Mellon playing to a 0-0 draw.    One of the best defensive games that you will see in the regular season this year for DIII Women's soccer.  Well played on both ends.

Due to technical difficulties, the first half of the game had to be followed almost exclusively on live stats.  The FloCollege video feed did not start until the match was in the 41st minute.  If you do have a FloCollege subscription, you can just watch the second half of that match on replay.  Otherwise, the box score will tell it all to you.

It will be fun to see where the teams get ranked this week in the D3 Women's National Soccer Coaches poll, but I expect that the NCAA DIII Women's Soccer Committee will release the first NCAA Power Index (NPI) Summary Report of the season tomorrow for games played through today, and if so, this will give an early NCAA DIII Women's soccer tournament picture of chances of teams getting an at-large bid to the field this season if they do not win their AQ.  The first NPI Summary report of last season was released on the first Monday of October last year.  Since the NPI ranks all of the D3 Women's soccer teams in the nation, I think that the NPI gives me a truer picture of where a team stands.  The UAA got 6 at large bids on the women's side each season for the past 2 seasons, (in other words, every UAA women's soccer team save for Brandeis made the tournament field the past 2 seasons) and the UAA seems to be well on its way to getting 6 at large bids on the women's side again this season, although it is early.

However, because this topic is about how the soccer coaches rank the teams nationally,  I will also look forward to the release of the national poll on Tuesday as well.

Thanks deiscanton for the recap.  With no access to the video feed, I was thinking it was a fairly defensive battle.  Was there much play inside the 18s or was it all in the middle of the field (there wasn't that many total shots for the game)?

It will definately be interesting to see where the NPI rankings start out this week.  I don't know how closely the USC poll tends to follow the NPI rankings once they begin, but the more I'm thinking about it Case Western may bump ahead of Emory since their tie was to #3 Christopher Newport.??

I would expect Case Western Reserve and Washington University to move ahead of Emory this week.

Emory was the only one on the road, but the other two had such lopsided wins at home (and are weeks past their only blemish), I'll be surprised if the committee does not see that.  The latter two play in Cleveland next week.
