3 weeks away pretty much from season opening tournaments. Preseason AVCA poll should be coming out next week I believe. Don't expect anyone other than Defending National Champion UW-Oshkosh to be sitting a top. Eau Claire and Whitewater figure to be in the mix there as well. Anyways, should be another great year of WIAC volleyball.

Pre season poll released today. As expected UW-Oshkosh a unanimous #1. Eau Claire starts out in the top 10 coming in at #17. Whitewater rounds out the WIAC teams in the top 25 at #16.

No WIAC teams even receiving votes at this point. I'll try and get a post out early next week on first weekend matches for at least the ranked teams.

Massey pre-season rankings have been out for a few weeks, but I'll lay off those for a couple weeks until teams get some matches under belts.

Opening weekend coming up with the 3 ranked WIAC teams heading out of state. Whitewater and Eau Claire head East while Oshkosh is headed to the West Coast.

#1 Oshkosh heads out to the University of Puget Sound where they will have 4 matches against unranked opponents, so should be a nice ease into the season for them. Opponents include:

U of Puget Sound

#16 Whitewater heads to New Jersey for the Kean University invitational for 3 matches that include:

Penn State - Harrisburg

WEEK 1 AVCA WIAC RANKING UPDATE

#1 UW-Oshkosh: As expected after a 4-0 opening weekend. Already have their record up to 6-0 now for the season as they got this week started with a sweep tonight over both St. Norbert and Lakeland. Next Up: Cornell (IA) on Saturday.

#6 UW-Eau Claire: Strength of opponent and other ranked teams losing around them can probably be the only reason the Blugolds somehow managed to move up 1 spot despite going 2-1 over the weekend. They will host the Sandy Schumacher Memorial this weekend where they will face off against 3 unranked teams in: Madison Edgewood, Coe & St. Catherine.

#31 UW-Whitewater: A drop of 4 spots for the Warhawks as they also went 2-1 over the weekend with a loss to an unranked opponent. Will play Cornell(IA) on Saturday.

No other teams yet in the rankings or receiving votes. Stout & River Falls are both off to 3-1 starts.
