Hi all, thanks for letting me join your board. I have developed my own formula-based college football rankings since 2023, and lately I have started following Division III football more closely after major college football stopped being fun. So instead of limiting it to FBS/FCS teams, I have started rating all NCAA and NAIA teams together. The combined version is on my site, but you may find D3-only rankings below, taking into account scores through week 3. As we approach playoff time, I will also share rankings that omit margin of victory in order to see how closely they align with NPI.

Other models likely put more stock in 2025 data at this stage. Mine is more fluid while still using 2025 as a baseline, which is largely phased out after a team's 5th game and completely removed after the 8th game.

It will be interesting to see if Mount Union will round into form by the time they face Ohio Northern and Baldwin-Wallace, which won't be for several more weeks.

I was curious whether Saint John's might actually pass North Central for #1 based on their slightly better home win against Bethel (by 26 points relative to the 23 in the Bethel/NCC opener). In a surprise twist (to me, anyway), the Johnnies actually dropped by one spot as Whitewater climbed six places by knocking off the defending champs. River Falls fell only one spot, which is probably fair anyway; if bookies had to post a line for a hypothetical UWRV-SJU matchup on a neutral field, the Falcons would likely still have the edge.

Whitewater and Washington obviously had the most consequential wins among the top 10 upsets. The "biggest upset" is misleading; Pat and Greg mentioned on last week's ATN podcast that Saint Francis returns maybe six players from their 2025 roster when they were in FCS, and this game against Hiram was only their second of the season.
