Wilkes scores 1:08 into the game, then proceeds to thump Goucher 3-0 for their first win of the season.

St. Francis (PA) was until this year D1 to include its soccer team. They were a middle to lower tier D1 soccer team. They went from a .500 D1 team to 0-11 in D3. It is deep in farm country sometimes called Pennsyltucky.

Looking at the 2026 roster which now has only 14 (1 gk) with one or 2 seniors and the rest freshmen. Goals scored 5 while giving up 62. The gk has 84 saves. Corners 11 for SF and 118 for the opponents.

2025 they had 28 or so players with plenty of guys from overseas. Also SF did not hire a head coach till late March this year who has some Mount Union connections (SC?)

More than just dropping from D1. Rather not even having a program in 2025.

DagarmanSpartan

SFU is struggling in football as well.  The drop from D1 meant that most of their top scholarship jocks in every sport left, forcing them to build new D3 programs pretty much from scratch overnight.

It'll take a few years to make that transition.
CWRU Grad, Class of 1994, big D3 sports fan of that school.  Also a fan of Yeshiva U at the D3 level.  Fan of Houston and Illinois at the D1-FBS level.

SKUD

The school will be gone before they become good at division three

Hopkins92

Yeah, what SKUD said.

We haven't had a "state of D3 school economics" discussion in a while. All the reporting I've seen is painting a very bleak picture: demographics and the overall cost of a 4-year education are making it extremely difficult for these small schools to stay afloat.

Yup, super, super bleak.  All the chickens are coming home to roost right now and not enough colleges to figure out things to survive, imo. Don't know what motivated St. Francis (Pa) to ever go D1 with only about 2500 students (apparently only 40% male). Obv. a huge mistake. However, according to the interwebs it went D1 in 1981 when ob. things were different to say the least.

Also did not want to bring up the football team.

Kuiper

Marantha Baptist missed one of their last remaining chances to get a win, losing to previously 2-13 Northwestern (MN) by a 1-0 score on a 68th minute goal.

Best chance to win according to Massey. Huge game between St Francis and Bethany tomorrow.

A couple predictions for removal from this list:

St. Mary's (MN) gets the win over Concordia (MN) to get off of the no win list. They're due, and I'm still shocked they haven't won a game yet.

St. Olaf takes their first loss against St. John's. My Oles lost a starter for the season a couple weeks ago, and now will also likely be down their leading scorer for a little while after Soares went down against Mac over the weekend. They've also been looking a little too relaxed at times over the past few weeks, so it might be time for a reality check. I'll take the Johnnies in this one.

Mississippi University for Women's Men's soccer team finally breaks out of the Yet to Win club!

FINAL:  MUW 5 - Tougaloo 3

Tougaloo was 0-9 coming into the game and has only won 2 games in the last 3 years.  It's also an NAIA team, but a win is a win!

I actually watched some of that game as I knew someone who previously worked at MUW. Talk about some ugly soccer, it honestly looked like a high school JV game compared to the higher level D3 teams. But congrats to MUW, like you said, a win is a win.

Did not watch, but never heard of Tougaloo College. An HBCU and very interesting. Has over 2500 students with very few sports while being not crazy expensive and 50/50 men/women ratio. Don't know what its financial health is (says tuition is around $12k), but might be something for other schools to study.

Not D3 but NAIA. Looked at roster which lists 21 players of which 4 are goalkeepers. So only 17 field players. They def. do a bit of traveling with games in TX, TN and AL.

It appears to be a UNCF school.

FINAL:  Bethany (WV) 4 - St. Francis 1

St. Francis had a 1-0 lead at the half on a PK, but Bethany scored 4 goals to get the win AND empty the bench.  Bethany gets out of the Yet to Win club!

I kind of feel bad for St. Francis.  They had only two subs, one of whom only played 2 minutes.  Most starters played 90 minutes or close to it.  They are probably exhausted and limping at the end of every game, but this game Bethany committed 22 fouls, compared to 9 for St. Francis, so the St. Fran players were limping even more than normal!
