La Crosse's Sam Grieger has entered to Transfer Portal. Wow, that would be an absolutely huge loss for the Eagles and the WIAC.
Figured. Not much coming back. Not a deep team. Never figured why coach benched the butler kid in playoffs for second half. They played better with him in.

Quote from: PauldingLightUP on March 04, 2026, 02:12:22 PMAll WIAC selections are announced. Sam Grieger of course Player of the Year.

Aiden Hawkinson and Max Raimer Co Newcomers of the year.

Raimer really came on as the year went on. But, like I said I'm a bit surprised not to see Wesley Mboga.

Biggest snub not on HM or Defensive is Carter Thomas in my opinion.

Injuries have cost Xavier Lewis and Brandon Beck a place on the team.

Good selections. Wesley played more, but was he as effective? Would he play on SP or Osh? Hard to say, but he had a solid fresh year on an ok team. Maybe I would argue Raimer alone. Carter Thomas. Maybe, but who is thinking Oshkosh and defense?

Quote from: Greek Tragedy on February 24, 2026, 10:02:34 PMLa Crosse beats Stout 87-83. They had a double digit lead so I went to the Oshkosh game. Not sure if they had a furious comeback fall short or what.

Platteville holds off Oshkosh 79-72.

Titans in real trouble for an At-large bid.

Stout fought hard. They played loose all year. Gritty play. Lax was just good. Not a lot of depth, but best player in the nation and supporting cast. Platteville won hard fought game. Bonus in Platteville. Oshkosh abandoned the Gimmick. Why? In the playoff game? I'm sure there will be question for next year. Have our best players on the floor for 30 min or 22 min. You could tell at the end of game they could not press and pressure the ball as they normally have. Good games ahead.

UWRF would have competed with Drake. Most days they would lose and some days they would win. For UWRF, It will be tough. Not to mention kids in the program taking off for transfer. Some will end up at Drake. Great for Matt, bad for UWRF. Imagine trying to fill your rosters now with an interim coach. Imagine trying to fill your staff with an interim tag. As much as UWRF stood by Walker, he is leaving them in a tough situation and will take some players. I hope I am proven wrong, because in a great world both coaches will succeed and all will be good. I am in the IDK category.

Wishing Walker the best. Drake, you know awesome. But let's face it. Drake? Would RF beat Drake? IDK, but I"m sure it would be a game. I saw he mentioned the right place in interviews. I would assume Drake offered a salary he couldn't refuse. Didn't take D coord? Maybe he chose to stay. But, it Interim tag makes it for hard recruitment. Wishing Wessig the best. UWRF to stay toward top, but maybe better for UWRF to have a new Coach than an interim.

Quote from: ChickenHoops on February 12, 2026, 08:30:02 AMThat Point loss was excruciatingly painful.

When Heather left the casita this morning for work, she asked me if I thought Uttech might have defended that inbound better. I told her I would ask the board but that some of you would be salty about the question. Told her I'd tell her what you all thought when she stops back at noon.  ;D
Is this a serious question?  I certainly can't tell based on all these scenarios that you bring to this forum.  You have a 6'4"/6'5" guy with long arms and can jump out the gym guarding the inbound...and lets switch it for a guy who is 6'1" and isn't a leaper by any stretch of the imagination.  Your obsession with Uttech is a little weird.

This forum has gotten ridiculous and less and less about basketball.  Have fun learning about "Heather."
Player guarding the inbound mistake. Number one rule. Especially wit 3. sec on clock. Protect the middle pass. Put yourself in position to keep pass out of middle. Great play by UWRF, poor def by SP. Better now than in playoffs I guess.

The Wiac reffing has become an embarrassment. Watching games online shows just how poor they are. Osh game. 15+ fouls EC. Osh 7. Stopped watching because of refs.  I don't care who wins but hate to see a team wonder wtf.  Watch ww, uwp hardly a foul ww playing hard. Uwrf-uwsp looks like let's let them play. We don't have very many refs but the ones in the league are obviously not working to improve. It will eventually hurt us in tournament.

Quote from: WIACer on January 25, 2026, 12:18:42 PMWatching UWO in previous games I was surprised at how many illegal screens they were allowed to do without a call. I noticed on their ball screens they all have a 2 hand push off defender. Enough to knock off balance. Maybe it caught up to them?? Missing 3's hurts too.
Here I figured it was just the "gimmick offense" finally catching up to them...  :o
The gimmick is working. Wouldn't change a thing.

Quote from: Greek Tragedy on January 24, 2026, 10:08:58 PMPoint falls at La Crosse 80-77. They had a 69-62 lead with about 6 minutes to go. La Crosse was up 75-74 with less than a minute to go. La Crosse missed a 3, but they got the rebound and, of course, they made the Pointers pay by hitting their 2nd chance opportunity. Josiah Butler was fouled on a 3-pt attempt and made all 3 FTs to cut the lead to 1 with 6 seconds to go. Point fouled right away and La Crosse hit both FTs. Butler turned it over to end it.

Tough loss considering Oshkosh and Platteville both lost. I would've felt great going into the 2nd half of the conference season at 5-2 instead of 4-3. Point just 1-3 on the road. Everyone plays Wednesday and then has the weekend off, which again, is ridiculous.

I will summarize Heather and my thoughts after watching H2 of the Oshkosh game and the Point game:

1) Uttech was really good for Stout, especially driving in the paint, would have really helped Point if he was still there,
2) The officials at Oshkosh were really bad. Flagrant foul seemed excessive and the illegal screen rule only worked vs. Titans; crowd increasing displeasure was obvious on the stream,
3) Heather can be very distracting during games. I guess I'll have to watch the replays again without her.

EC lost to WW, last minute was brutal; amazing season demise for them.  Maybe the early ratings were biased by many wins over weaker teams.
Watching UWO in previous games I was surprised at how many illegal screens they were allowed to do without a call. I noticed on their ball screens they all have a 2 hand push off defender. Enough to knock off balance. Maybe it caught up to them?? Missing 3's hurts too.

Watching game online. Figured good game. It was. But question. Why in plattevile do the refs call a foul on d when o sweeps the ball. Just seems odd. I watch A lot of games online. See it in the nba but Wiac? Saw it against EC and tonight against LAX? Is it something the league added.
Quote from: palum on January 10, 2026, 10:56:23 PMPlatteville wins  over LaX. Back and forth game until about 7 minutes left in the 1st half. Platteville goes on run to take a 8 point lead at halftime. Platteville held a 10 point lead in the.  2nd half. The lead grew to 18. LaX came back and got to 9 points. Platteville made free thows to close out for a 89-78 win.

2 games in.

1. Lax- Tough. Not too deep but the best player who can carry. What a game last night. 47!
2. UW-Osh Gimmick offense working. Scoring lots of points. wore out Lax.
3. UW P- looked tough last night. Fundamentals, solid D. EC didn't look prepared for the old swing o.
4. UWSP- tough loss hearing about Krohn. Wish him the best.
5. UWw- Make some ft's. they probably beat SP. But you have to make ft's.
6. UWEC- Still could move up. But ...
7. UWstout
8. UWRF
I thought the league champ would have 3 losses this year. So 1-6,  maybe 5 is certainly up for top.

Quote from: John Gleich on January 04, 2026, 12:59:03 AMThe end of the EC/SP game was mishandled by the officials.

If you watch the video, the play with Bulter happens at 1:41 left in the game.

As they had all game, they "let them play" on Point's offensive end. Butler scored and EC came down and ran offense... and ultimately took a 3, which missed.

Once Point got the rebound (1:21), they went back and looked at the video and determined that there was an offensive foul on Butler in the previous possession. But... the basket stuck.

EC got two FTs (made 1/2)... and then got the ball back again, and hit a 3.

Because EC was granted 2 FTs, I have to believe that they determined the offensive foul to.be a flagrant (the Box Score doesn't say, and the SP radio guys weren't told).

Where I think this was mishandled - the referees STOPPED THE GAME after the EC possession. If anything, they should have waited until the next stoppage of play. That then took an offensive possession away from SP after getting a stop.

And for everyone saying SP.almost choked.... a reminder, Eau Claire hadn't lost a game since Feb 26th of last year. That SP was able to grow an 11 point lead with 2:20 to go was great, and you'd love to see them close games out better, for sure. But Eau Claire was going to fight, and fight they did.

And at the end, SP did enough to seal their 11th victory.
Very good description. The flagrant foul was consistent with what they allowed. And for point it was advantageous for the game. Don't really care who win but thought this could be the game of the week. Since Osh/ww went down. I was always in belief that a o player need to make a move around and player. They both have right to their location. When you go through a player no move is made. You have a couple options. Hold your ground or give ground. Giving ground ends in easy shots. Which is what happened to EV. But difficult if def believe they are hand tied by a foul. Ec lost because of ft.s and point in paint. uWSP won because they were better. Pretty simple. Playoff type atmosphere: I learned both teams are solid.

Watched UWSP vs UWEC online Physical game. Bully ball by point. Refs allowed players to go through o. Happens. I do find it interesting refs miss a flagrant offensive on point but later reviewed but no offensive foul and points. Now, they could have called 4 more in the game. But if not. Then don't punish defender for playing defense. Good game. Conference will be tough.

1. UWL- not a deep team. Foul trouble and off shooting night will cost them a couple games in WIAC.
2. UWEC- better than last year.
3. UWW - can shoot and play solid d
4. UWSP- same team as last year. Maybe less.
5. UWP- solid team. Lost a lot.
6. UWO- gimmick team. not sure what they have. rotating players like a hockey team. Maybe it's a new offense trend. Guess we will see. If it works they could move up to 3.
7. UWStout  Not much to say. They beat Il Wes.
8. UWRF- not much to say
