Quote from: emma17 on December 11, 2025, 03:03:01 PMIt might be the 02 Warhawk (worry wart) coming out in me, the Wheaton matchup is a big concern. UWRF has great skill players and they're pretty good in the trenches.UMMMM. ok. UW Whitewater, UW Platteville, UW LaX. I'm sure they have seen better. Positive they have.
However, Wheaton has the most proficient run/pass capabilities UWRF will see to date I believe. Wheaton has had no problem running on the teams that were supposed to be run stoppers- and they stop the run. Likely Blaha will be called on to do even more (not sure how much more the guy can do). If Blaha gets neutralized at all, trouble in River City.

I'm pretty sure the WIAC stopped the 2 year transfer sit out in the WIAC. Maybe he left ineligible.
Whitewater's roster is posted. No Tyshawn Teague-Johnson sighting, I wonder if he's hurt for the year or something. He still lists Whitewater basketball in his bio on social media.

He has to sit out the first 8 games. The WIAC continues to enforce their transfer rule despite the portal.

First year MMG, played on bad team. Someone has to score. Did well. 2nd year short season. Took a lot of shots. A lot of bad shots. Defense- iffy. Should add to team. All-American? No idea.

I hear ya. We are good. We are a very good conference. One of the best overall. We have had a very good dominant team in UW Whitewater with several national championships. The other in Div 3 is Mt. Union. Most championships over years have come from those 2 teams. Top dogs for a long time. Rankings show North Central and Mt Union at the top of rankings now. Do we have a WIAC team that can beat one of them?

Trying to figure out the WIAC. Lot of talk about toughest conference, which for sure, it is tough. But, is the last championship UWW in 2014? UWW and UWLax certainly have been in the mix more recent years. UWOsh in the past. But, that really is about it. I have a feeling that it will be UWL and UWW again. Maybe UWP. The others have just been non factors. Recent years UWRF is better, but hasn't been able to win big games. How long does the toughest league have between National Championships, before we consider it not as tough? After week one. I think its ends up UWL, UWP, UWW, UWstout, UWOSH, UWRF, UWEC, UWSP.

Yea the D is a problem. Lot of big plays given up. That will be problem for them to succeed in the league.

Interesting for UW Stout. It's not like they have been on fire in winning with this coaching staff. I don't think winning is that important for most WIAC schools.

You could argue Renta was the best player in the league. I only saw him a few times, but it was clear the team was trying everything to stop him. He created wide open shots for teammates and was able to get by 1/2/3 defenders. Pearson is good, but the team loaded. UWEC will need help.
I get it. I mean, they were picked last and finished 3rd. I was basing the rankings on the fact that they lose 3 of their top 4 guys and 5 of 7. Yes, Renta is very good. I don't know who they are bringing in, so someone has got to finish lower.

Maybe it's a bigger ref problem. I don't watch as many other conferences. There is some crossover for sure. They all should still ref the game. It's their job! They get paid. It's not a volunteer position.

It was an easy "blown call". Now,I guess we do not know what the refs had available. Maybe not same feed. I also do not follow either team. I do hope someone in the WIAC wins it all. I am more disappointed at the refs in the WIAC. A lot of new faces, which is welcomed. But, ref. It's not AAU.

Gotcha. Saw it. Obvious flagrant. Now we don't know what referees are looking at, but he clearly intentionally swung and hit the head/face with an elbow. Did he mean to hit the head and face? Let's give him the benefit of the doubt, no. But he did. However, LOL. Ref, maybe on the missed ft you should call over the back. Unfortunately, we have glorified AAU refs in the WIAC. Don't call anything and randomly pick something to call. Embarrassing for the league. There is physical and there is cheap. Refs should know the difference. In the little I watched Yes, UWP continues to contact offensive players, ride, body, hand check, illegal screens. A back screen, you can't run into the defender. You should be set before the contact. But, if calls are not made, why not. May hurt them in playoffs? Maybe not? Guess they got to hope refs are all similar. Go WIAC.

I looked back, but had a hard time finding. Lot's of stoppage and fouls called. After watching UWP a number of times, I can say, yes they play physical and somewhat questionable. They do throw elbows and trip (stick their leg out) on purpose. Many do. Maybe it's a team thing, toughness thing? They are good. When I watch them play, they know the refs are only going to call so many fouls and they are deep. I had to laugh at Pearson on his 5th. Clearly a charge. Maybe it was the other 4. We all know. When you play at UWP. You start the game down 10-0. lol

Having seen plenty of games this year. I would say reffing is down. I understand let the players play and we are WIAC. But hand checking, moving back screens, ball screens, and offense player bully balling dribbles to the rim and calling a foul on def player for legal guarding creates cheap physical play. It's what we see in WIAC now. Players do what is allowed. Adjust as necessary. Not calling fouls, that are fouls is not reffing. Unfortunately, it won't help the WIAC in playoffs. Because refs in other leagues will call fouls. Leaving us wondering why so many fouls.
