Quote from: Ron Boerger on October 30, 2026, 12:41:55 PMMy bad.  4th and goal from the 6, so it was a 23-yard attempt.

Does the kicker have a height issue? He is 9 for 14 which isn't great but 3 of the 5 misses were blocked which might be on him or the o-line.

Since Dax Dunham was installed as the kicker, he's 8/9 on field goals, with a long of 45.

I have to admit that I didn't know what to expect from HPU.They came in at 4-0, but apparently playing 4 middle-school opponents didn't prepare them for ASC play. The Cru running game was disappointing, but the defense was stout and hitting like a hammer. I wish they hadn't taken their foot off the accelerator in the second half, though. They played everybody but the cheerleaders in 2H, and I'm concerned that Keilan Carver left and didn't return.

Good news, though: Rowan upset #12 Salisbury to go 5-1 and Endicott is undefeated and ranked #9, so the Cru SOS is looking good.

I've seen or heard every football game the Cru has ever played, and I thought the Rowan game was one of the best coaching jobs ever, for sure during the Harmon era. Here's the way I see it, prove me wrong:
-The team had a short week of practice and flew 1600 miles to play a Rowan squad that returned 19 of 22 starters from a team that was 8-2, with both losses to strong teams. Meanwhile, the Cru:
-Played the entire game with a QB making his first collegiate start.
-The OLine had only one returning starter, and he was at a different position. They need to improve on run blocking, but they only allowed one sack.
-Both RBs were new to the program.
-The DLine had only one returning starter, and he was on a "pitch count" due to injury. Two projected starters didn't play due to injury, and the DLine platoon included 3 freshmen. Still managed 2 sacks and kept pressure on the QB all day.
-LB's were strong and deep. but all the DB's were new.

After giving up a cheap early TD, the defense settled in and was stout the rest of the way.

And this coaching staff put this motley bunch together with only a couple of weeks of practice and 2 scrimmages to evaluate 215 players. I know it's only one game, but My hat is off to Harmon and staff.

ASC goes 6-0 on opening weekend. Wow.

Some interesting numbers from the 2026 Cru football roster: 38 offensive players, 14 played at least 4 games last year, 24 are new to the varsity.

41 defensive players, 15 played at least 4 games last year, 26 new to the varsity.

Best information I have is:

8/22--Returnees vs. Tigres 7PM

8/29--Newcomers vs San Antonio Vipers 10 AM

Yep, can't even get the live stats. Maddening.

I have some serious questions about that ref crew. I am not saying they cost us the game, they absolutely didn't, but the amount of penalties called on both teams was not believable. All together, 31 flags were thrown for over 300 yards of penalties. Coming into the game Mars Hill average 6.6 penalties for 43 yards and we 7.5 for 70 yards, the odds that both of us completely forgot how to play within the rules to that degree is again unbelievable to me.

Agree 100%. I was sitting right on the 50 and that was the strangest officiating I've ever witnessed. I don't recall seeing a single penalty call that was a bad one. There were just so darned MANY of them. Why does BJ Stewart ruin a great return by tossing the ball away? The horsecollar call was obvious, as were the couple of lineman downfield. On virtually every return I saw illegal blocks and holding that weren't called. I honestly can't say that the zebras favored either team, but seeing yellow flags on the ground after every big play sure took some of the fun out of watching the game.

Quote from: UMHB03 on September 27, 2025, 05:33:35 PMThe penalties and overall lack of discipline on this team (and all of Harmon's teams) are absolutely unacceptable.

If you are using penalties as an indicator of lack of discipline on "all of Harmon's teams," you might want to pick a new metric. In his 24 seasons at the helm, Pete Fredenberg's teams averaged 67.0 yds/game in penalties. In Harmon's three complete seasons, his teams have averaged 57.7.

Quote from: Crubacker on September 13, 2025, 11:05:33 AMAgainst Bethel, we only threw the ball 26 times total, completed 20 of those so numbers must be a little skewed there Rev.

My apologies. You are absolutely correct. Can't explain my error-I don't drink. ;-)

Quote from: Crubacker on September 12, 2025, 11:05:03 AMI see Will Mclintock is back on the roster-----said he was out 2024 due to injury.  Another big receiving target back

Great news!  Iirc he showed flashes of brilliance at TE. We don't throw to them much, and in last week's game pretty sure Tyler Woods got most of the snaps at H-Back/TE.  Don't think we targeted him once that I can recall.

Coach Lee used our tight ends a lot and very effectively during his first tenure as OC. You are right I don't think Woods got targeted once vs Bethel but that was mostly because we almost didn't throw a forward pass in the second half. Kind of felt like Lee was trying to protect Michaux after those two first half picks.

Agree that McClintock should be a terrific addition. Funny how we remember things--the Cru actually threw 25 passes in the first half of the game and 21 in the second.

Quote from: Pat Coleman on September 05, 2025, 03:23:19 PMHere's a little more about Destin Chance from when he was in D-III last year.
https://www.d3football.com/columns/features/2024/illinois-college-chance-to-grow

I don't know if it was because of the DLine pressure (4 sacks) or good coverage in the secondary, but Chance looked pretty ordinary last night. And Michaux actually finished with a better QBR.

I see that Wright is not on the roster. I can't blame him for looking elsewhere, but it was obvious that he was gonna be QB3 at best. Ironic that the same thing happened last year when he beat out Phe for the job and Phe transferred.

Quote from: Etchglow on August 31, 2025, 09:17:26 AMJealous you were able to find a roster! I figure we won't get the official roster until Thursday or Friday. As of last Friday only ~183 schools had posted rosters though. Not just a umhb thing haha.

Edit to add: do we only have two captains named so far? Noticed only two at the scrimmages...

2025 Roster has dropped. Check it out:

When you do Randy O'Rear's performance appraisal you get a few perks. I think captains won't be named until this week.
