Quote from: Crubacker on Yesterday at 11:05:33 AMAgainst Bethel, we only threw the ball 26 times total, completed 20 of those so numbers must be a little skewed there Rev.

My apologies. You are absolutely correct. Can't explain my error-I don't drink. ;-)

Quote from: Crubacker on September 12, 2025, 11:05:03 AMI see Will Mclintock is back on the roster-----said he was out 2024 due to injury.  Another big receiving target back

Great news!  Iirc he showed flashes of brilliance at TE. We don't throw to them much, and in last week's game pretty sure Tyler Woods got most of the snaps at H-Back/TE.  Don't think we targeted him once that I can recall.

Coach Lee used our tight ends a lot and very effectively during his first tenure as OC. You are right I don't think Woods got targeted once vs Bethel but that was mostly because we almost didn't throw a forward pass in the second half. Kind of felt like Lee was trying to protect Michaux after those two first half picks.
Agree that McClintock should be a terrific addition. Funny how we remember things--the Cru actually threw 25 passes in the first half of the game and 21 in the second.

Quote from: Pat Coleman on September 05, 2025, 03:23:19 PMHere's a little more about Destin Chance from when he was in D-III last year.

I don't know if it was because of the DLine pressure (4 sacks) or good coverage in the secondary, but Chance looked pretty ordinary last night. And Michaux actually finished with a better QBR.

I see that Wright is not on the roster. I can't blame him for looking elsewhere, but it was obvious that he was gonna be QB3 at best. Ironic that the same thing happened last year when he beat out Phe for the job and Phe transferred.

Quote from: Etchglow on August 31, 2025, 09:17:26 AMJealous you were able to find a roster! I figure we won't get the official roster until Thursday or Friday. As of last Friday only ~183 schools had posted rosters though. Not just a umhb thing haha.

Edit to add: do we only have two captains named so far? Noticed only two at the scrimmages...

2025 Roster has dropped. Check it out:

When you do Randy O'Rear's performance appraisal you get a few perks. I think captains won't be named until this week.

Just because I couldn't sleep last night, I spent some time perusing the Crusader roster from yesterday's scrimmage with Cisco. It's not set in stone, but it will be pretty close to the roster that will drop next week. Some things to note:

-86 players were listed with numbers.
-24 were transfers (hello, portal)
-17 are freshman (that surprised me)
-10 are 6'4" or taller
-8 weigh 300# or more

Side note: Action at the line of scrimmage. Given OC Stephen Lee's recent stint as head coach at Cisco, they pretty well knew all our plays and blocking assignments and adjusted accordingly. On the flip side, we pretty well knew all of their defensive sets. Oh, yes-not my call, but I'd start Mouser. And the biggest surprise to me? #29, Trent Lacy (6'0", 210) is one hard-nosed runner. Transfer from Cisco. My bet is that he sticks on varsity and works his way into the rotation.

Quote from: Etchglow on August 22, 2025, 12:50:02 PMAlso, not sure how I missed it, but it looks like Kaden Brown left LA Tech back in April and ended up at Trinity Valley Community College?

Wow--that's a long way from D1.

Quote from: CruFrenzy on May 17, 2025, 02:16:08 PMI think our non con should be a great test, should tell us a lot about where our program is at right now.

Agree 100%. I don't want to hear any more talk about the Cru's weak non con schedule. One D2 opponent, One D3 national powerhouse, and two of the best NAIA teams in the country (one of whom beat us handily last year). Coach better have this team ready to play...

Who is the second NAIA team we are playing?

I must've missed that. Other than Bethel TN.

Announcement to drop soon.

I'll play and guess. Texas Wesleyan? They're the only NAIA Top 25 team within a two-state trip.

And the prize goes to the Chucker, with a neat little piece of detective work.

Quote from: CruFrenzy on April 05, 2025, 05:32:49 PM-Spring ball QB battle update-

Three guys battling for the job.

Jake Wright still technically #1 on the depth chart which is fair because he was our QB1 second half of the year and acquired some playoff experience. No issue with it being his job to lose - I think that is a fair approach from coach Lee.

The other two guys fighting for the job are Seth Mouser, former 3 star UTEP/Juco transfer and Reggie Moody Jr.

Mouser is 6'6" and mobile and was the highest rated JUCO transfer in all of Division 3 according to 247 sports & AthLinkd database.

Reggie Moody is a 5'11 dual threat improviser from Red Oak, he was one of the best high school QB recruits I've seen us get in 5-10 years. Reminds me of Vernon Adams Jr a bit, if anyone remembers him from Eastern Washington/Oregon.

Looks like QB1 will be in good hands next season.. excited to see how it unfolds.
Mouser is a fascinating prospect, and he seems to have all the tools. But Moody is lightning in a bottle. Maybe the best dual-threat QB I've seen in a Cru jersey since Blake Jackson.

Fake news. Looks like the April Fools posts are dropping early. Article on Jake Wright is fake too.
