Kicking in D3 is always such a crap shoot.  It's gotten so bad at Trinity that instead of going for a 22-yarder that would have given them a three score lead against Millsaps midway through the fourth quarter, they went for it on fourth and seven (and did not convert).

Well last game we punted from the McMurry 29 yard line so I think it's fair to say Harmon was dialing up his inner Fred there. haha!

I can remember years when UMHB had a FG kicker who could make a 46yd FG.

I mean, this one was only a 42 yarder but still makes me happy:

But yeah, crap shoot. Avila was 70+% in 2019 with a 52 yarder, but something like 50% in 2020/2021.

Does the kicker have a height issue? He is 9 for 14 which isn't great but 3 of the 5 misses were blocked which might be on him or the o-line.

The very young OL has struggled all season, compounded by injuries, with blocking, be it run, pass, or kick.  The nearly 300 yards rushing last week was more than the previous 3 (maybe 4) weeks combined.

I know it was only Schreiner, but we 100% came out with some intention today. In particular it was great to see our offensive line get a little nasty and push some guys around and DOWN the field. We said it last week but if our OLINE can embrace the nasty this season we are going to get a lot more out of our offense.

I'm not going to overreact, we did what a good Cru team is supposed to do to a team like Schreiner - but that in itself was good to see. That is what the national title Cru teams used to do to teams like that.

Now we look to another not so straightforward road test at ETBU. Need to keep our focus and not look ahead to the HSU game, as big as that one will be.

For a first-year program, whuppings or not, they're doing just fine.

The best part about this game is you don't have to feel bad for anyone. That's a valuable experience for Schreiner, believe it or not.
