I have to wonder how all these transfers got accepted at JCU? Didn't JCU announce they were leaving the OAC because, sniff, the "academics" were better, or something to the effect their new sister schools were more like them. Wait until a few NCAC members go belly up in the next few years. Wittenburg is on life support, and a few more are so desperate for students anyone who can pay is accepted. The NCAC admins will soon realize JCU is going to, every year, win the conference in nearly every men's and women's sports: basketball, track, wrestling, golf, swimming, cross country, baseball and soccer. NCAC sports is now a one school show.

We always hear a lot about transfers when Mount Union loses unexpectedly. Most of it is hot air. A Mount Union degree is recognized, in part, because of the success of the football program. There are about 20,000 Mount Union alumni in northeast Ohio. The name opens doors, especially in Ohio. I have traveled the US extensively and never ceased to be amazed at how well-known Mount Union is. Besides, where else is a receiver going to get a better chance to catch a lot of balls than Mount Union next year? Maybe KB can go make some money, but when he looks back on his career, it will be the Mount Union connection that stands out. Now Mount has both the head coaches of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Penn State Nittany Lions. Wow. Transfer where? For What? Want to be a football coach? Where else?

Ask the thousands of guys who played in the OAC if an OAC title is meaningless? This group of seniors won four OAC Championships and beat a lot of excellent non conference teams. They had a hell of a run. Congratulations to them and their coaching staff. I cant believe I have to root for JCU the rest of the way, but I will.

I didn't want to criticize a young player, but the way our kicker was yesterday, going for it on 4th and 5 was the right call. Did you see what happened when he kicked that field goal attempt into the line? It wasn't "blocked",it was kicked into the line. That was his third attempt. The kicker just wasn't with it yesterday. His misses were way off.  He didn't look the same.I don't know what was wrong with him - the cold, the pressure - but he just wasn't with it.

It's not the coach's fault that our reliable field goal kicker suddenly lost all confidence. It's not the coach's fault No. 25 fumbled on the five-yard line on first down. That was the play of the game. JCU was the better team.

JCU is going to face a skilled QB and very fast receivers. They will have no answer for the passing attack of the Purples. The DBs for JCU will be overmatched. Mount by five and I don't mean points.

I like the fact NC may have to play two CheeseEater teams before facing the Purples. Those big heavy teams sure gave us a hard time. They wear a body out and facing two of them back to back is quite a task.I predict one of them will beat NC.

Coach Dartt competes with a lot of class. For two weeks in a row, we have seen run after run called. He's keeping the score down, out of respect for the young men across the line and the University they represent.

BW played with great pride and dominated the line of scrimmage the first half. However, once again,Bw's  secondary was simply no match for the passing offense of the Purples. We have too many fast guys, a sophisticated attack, led by Coach Collins, and super skilled players. Obviously BW got outcoached in the halftime locker rooms. Coach Dartt has blasted three good teams and put together a Championship team. We're Number One.

I saw the game. The difference in speed was such that after the first quarter, GC had given up. The body language of the players and coaches was, "OMG we're going to get 70 scored on us today." So I have a question....Can a D2 or D1 school just buy our best players?  Everybody knows who No.15 and No.4 are now.

I just returned from the Mount Union game. Wow, do we have a quarterback! Poised, accurate, a bigger kid than I expected, great runner! Mount Union is so fast at RB and WR, Wheaten couldn't keep up. Good-looking offense.Think of sophomore Bill Borchart (moment of silence as we speak of The Great Number 7)  but a little bigger. Raiders scattered far and wide should know the Jolly Roger was visble at first light. Good crowd on a perfect day.

Great Bowl season for Purple Raiders. Vince and Jason win a six overtime game against Pittburgh and Matt Campbell's guys beat the mighty Huricanes.

Nothing warms the heart of a former Raider more than seeing the Purples beat the stuffing out of the JCU Blue Streaks. So be it if it's the last time we play them. This settles the matter of the Hail Mary beating us at home.
DeShields can take them all the way.
A masterful performance by the coaching staff yesterday.

Do some of you really think the U.M.U.Administration will change football coaches? Quit drinking, stop using drugs, and get into see a good counselor. You need some reality therapy. Perhaps you malcontents have a suggestion as to who the new coach should be? I'd like to hear that. Any of you ever play on an undefeated team?  Any of you coached a team to an undefeated record? Are a lot of you in-demand to fill coordinator positions? No?

Mount will adjust to a new quarterback. Obviously, he is a pocket passer. Mount's mantra has always been, "players, formations, plays." He's a tall quarterback with good arm. That was an excellent coaching job by the Purples staff in the second half.
Marietta played a hell of a game. I can't remember more good catches by opposing receivers.
