Well, then the whole University needs to clean house. Plenty of football talent in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, in the recruiting hotbed. If this is the level people are accepting, so be it. Model more of NCC. Invest. Dedicate. Get rid of the old and bring in a lot of new. Otherwise, this is the standard you choose to accept. Most people have higher standards. Perhaps Mount Union no longer does.

It is the coach's fault to not try the field goal on 4th and 5. It is the coach's fault to run Maloney on 4th and 2 instead of just kick field goal. JCU and the entire crowd knew Maloney would run up the middle (remember Milroe vs. Michigan in the Rose Bowl?). It is the defensive coaches' fault to not get the DB to turn the heck around when you are six yards deep in the end zone to bat down or intercept the TD pass. These are the coaches that have struggled with Alfred State, Muskingum in the regular season, and others. There is NO "standard".

This affects recruiting because who in their right mind would want to play for this staff? Brad Spencer can coach. You see it in the team. They should remind you of what Mount Union USED to be. The evidence is overwhelming that this team needs new leadership. Bring back Larry for a year and then get a staff that wants to coach.

Who can they hire to replace Coach Brain Fart?

D3's James Franklin at it again.

He did. He was not happy and then the next year asked if I would join their Spring season because of my coaching expertise. I replied kindly and said thanks, but I am working with North Central. Hard to talk smack after getting beat by NC. But he tried. 

Ok, if referring to the past handful of years (seven?). Curt Fitzpatrick actually beat Brad Spencer in the Stagg Bowl and then was hired by Colgate. Who here sees Dartt getting hired by a FCS school or any other non-D3 school? Show of hands?

I remember watching the Wartburg at Mount Union semifinal game with my dad a few years ago and Mount got to the 1-yard line for first and goal. I told my dad that Coach Brain Fart is going to have Plunk throw a corner fade and get it picked off. Sure enough. That is exactly what happened.

I emailed the Coach and he clearly had a thin skin about it. If you cannot get one yard in four tries, you are not winning a title. If I knew that play was coming and the Wartburg coaches knew it was coming, who messed up? I will wait. Coach Brain Fart and I have the same number of national championships as a coach. Zero! Mic drop.

Sadly, Brain Fart cannot coach. Never could. All the talent at his disposal,  and it is the same fill in the blank every year. If you bought tickets to the Stagg Bowl, give them to fans who can use them.

The secondary cannot cover their own shadows, the backup quarterback came from one of many MAC schools masquerading as a FBS program (MAC bringing in mighty UMESS to replace NIU), and the coach cannot coach his way out of a paper bag. It is an unfortunate reality, but clear that upgrades are needed in all these areas if Mount Union wants to win another title. Until then, we can chat and hypothesize like they do on the SEC Network about all the greatness and coulda woulda shoulda scenarios.
