Dr D....I deleted my Monday post, way to harsh on the Puppies...The D are dogs, the Offense are puppies...
I sure hope the puppies man up this week and reach deep,  young people do not like accountability anymore so who knows. I know I would be MFing them all week. Its not coaching, its heart and desire at this point.

As far a Regals goes, I went thru a period with Coach Mac where UR was dominated or CLU got lucky, its all good fun. Would love to know the real reason Coach Mac left, but I am sure woke thoughts were involved.

UR and CLU game, I have posted before but the crew referring had doing our game had to be the worse I have seen in a long while. UR got beat it has nothing to do with out loss, the league deserves better.

The worse call was targeting by one of our safeties. I hate that call in general because the plays happen so fast and sometimes the flag is thrown because it looked violent. In the third QTR, a Regal caught the ball, oops a Kingsmen in the hook to curl area. Our db turn his back and hit him with the back of his shoulder pad/cup to avoid using the 6" crown on his helmet. This four idiots got together and booted him, why the lady side judge running with the play did not join in I do not know. I hate how hard players work to have this kind of crappy job done by the official. I wont even discuss how much they allowed Jax/DE to be held every play, the only call he got was when the RB tackled him in pass protection.

The SCIAC crews have always been lacking.

With these supposedly fancy broadcasts the SCIAC is supposed to have, they ought to be instituting video review for this very thing. Reviewing targeting at halftime or after the game isn't good enough in 2025, in my opinion.

Why did the side judge need a gender in your description of this?

Assuming that each team is utilizing the technology allowed on sidelines, have a tablet/review section assigned to officials should be very easy to implement. Not sure why the SCIAC hasn't done this already.

I sure hope HC Good sent cut up on the game to their supervisor. In regards to the lady side judge...its still new to me. My personal opinion, referees (any gender)  that played the sport before make better referees, such as understanding intent of the play, how hard it is to stop and not flagrant. I am not the first to say or complain rules makers are being done by people that have not played the game.

Right -- on the poorer broadcasts you might not see much but you'd always have the ability to take a look at targeting in real time so that a student-athlete doesn't have to miss a half because of a bad call in the moment.

Targeting is relatively new and before the experience of the older refs.

Huh? its not new, plus you never were allowed to lower the crown/top of your helmet...it was called spearing back in the day...I know I got called for it a few times. The launching portion of the rule is new.

Welp. 47, pic 6 v Whitworth makes 54, points in four games for the Bulldogs. Apparently an OC wasn't the problem. UR is at rock bottom. Losing to Cal Lu at home then Getting shut out by Chapman, offense was inept and back to their predictable ways. UR has a culture problem and that starts at the top. Sad state of affairs in Redlands.

CLU starting off 4-0 was something I did not see happening preseason. They have done a great job stopping the run and had a huge second half against CMS this past weekend.

PP ended up taking it to La Verne even when they went down 12-2 early. Without Russo at QB it is going to be hard for them to win another conference championship. Hopefully he will come back from injury and get back on the field soon.

La Verne is horrible and will be interesting to see how they compete next year even against Whittier and APU when they bring back their programs.

I have no explanation for the current state of the Redlands program. Going on the road and beating Whitworth and then dropping two straight games with HORRIBLE offense performances is something I did not see coming. They are currently averaging 94 yards per game and 5 points per game in conference play.

Happy for Cal Lu after a big comeback win! CMS can't run the ball at all so I knew it would be hard for them to hold any leads. They can't get the game under control and they throw it ok but not efficiently enough to close anyone out. This will continue to be a problem for the Stags. Kingsmen in the drivers seat for the division.

71 total yards in a whole college football game and 4 first downs (1 by penalty) for the Bulldogs. That sums it up about as well as any analysis I could provide.

Dr. Doolittle

I think CLU winning is a reflection of the SCIAC down, more than anything.  Redlands has regressed dramatically, and PP/CMS back down.

RFBredux

I watched the George Fox game as it was free and thought there were some better signs on offense with the new OC, specifically more creativity. The win at Whitworth was encouraging and thought maybe Redlands was tracking in the right direction.

However, back to back losses to Cal Lutheran and Chapman tells me that there are still a lot of structural problems within the program. I've been hard and critical towards Jim Good but will have zero issue eating some crow if he can figure it out and turn it around.
