There are definitely NCAA mandated rules against noisemakers and homerism in general.  I know I've seen some playoff games at Hollett that do not include smed's trademark "It's a Wabash College First Down!" call.  Unfortunate indeed.  And with smed moving on, I know I'll miss his PA at Wabash home games.

Yeah, no more "fiddy"s either.

Snif, yeah, I know.

I'll be relocating to Minneapolis in August, but my family will still be in C'ville until the house sells. I'll be back for a game or two, and definitely the bell game!

I told SID that I didn't want anyone to do the 'first down' bit, but you know...it may be tradition and that'll be cool if it lives on.

Awesome -- if you need advice let us know -- D3football.com knows Minneapolis well. :)

10 days until media day...any predictions on how the polling will turn out?

Shameless plug alert...You can participate in a fan poll by heading over to the NCAC Pick "Em page in the General Football section.  We'll find out on Aug. 2 if the coaches, media, and fans agree on who will win the NCAC in 2007!

It won't be the same with out you saying it, but I have a suspicion that this will be one of the ways you will leave your mark on the college. Heck, we've been doing it for more than two years, it's gotta be tradition!

The other way, of course, is the "old fashioned way" ... perhaps a little plaque in the ground at the end of the endzone near the Allen Center to the effect:  "Artifical turf the gift of Smedindy".

smedindy

Actually, SID has already deemed the appropriate place for my plaque when I finally have the chance to give back, as it were!

New Wabash DL coach is a former DePauw guy.

Discuss.

smedindy

He was only there for two years, so he wasn't totally indoctrinated!

Well, he at least had the good sense to transfer.  ;)

While he spent some time at DePauw he is not a DePauw graduate, so this is passable.   :)

Perusing the coaching staff page on the Wabash website I'm actually a little impressed at some of the resumés I'm seeing....the new DL coach just spent time at Ohio State University...sorry, The Ohio State University...the new WR coach comes to us after spending the last two years at UW-WW.  The new guys are definitely coming in with some pretty serious creds.

Would it be more appropriate to say he did time at DePauw rather than he spent time there?  :D

He was an assistant at Ohio State?

Pat Coleman

All it says is he spent time there. I spent time there too, but it wasn't as a student or a player or a coach. :)
