Blugolds open their season tonight with a Thursday night game against Carroll University.

Oddly enough, this will be the first ever meeting between the 2 programs. 3rd season of the Rob Erickson coaching era that has started off with back to back 2-8 seasons with the lone wins coming against Concordia College and UWSP both years.

One has to go back to 2019 to find the last Blugold win over a WIAC opponent (UWRF) that wasn't UWSP. 2019 we also defeated then #6 St. Thomas in our last meeting against the Tommies before they made the jump to FCS.

Hoping we can at least start turning the corner this season, in what has been a very long dry spell in terms of success for Blugold football.

Can not wait for another year of WIAC Football. Good luck to the Bluegolds tonight get it done and lets kick the WIAC football season off on the right foot. I am fired up to be at the UWRF game Saturday afternoon. Should be an outstanding football game.

Blugolds takes down Carroll University 29-7 in a game they pretty much controlled throughout. Offense was pretty efficient though I think the O-Line seems a bit weak in the run game. Blugolds may have finally found a QB in sophomore Ayden Helder from Stewartville, MN. I believe he redshirted last season, so he should have 4 more years at the helm assuming everything progresses as it should. Concerns again in the secondary, especially once we hit WIAC play with better athletes on the perimeter of the field. Overall, it is still nice to be sitting at 1-0.

I saw the EC game and they looked improved to me. I am unsure how strong Carroll is, however.

Now that school has started Platteville announces its roster. 51 from Wisconsin and 49 from Illinois for once we have more Wisconsin players on the roster. Finding a  replacement for Priami will be difficult. The Pioneers open Saturday at Aurora a tough NC opponent.

Great win for UWEC last night. Good to see them dominate the game from start to finish. Carroll is not UWRF or UWW, but it is who was on their schedule and they took care of them. Can not wait to get WIAC football started tomorrow!

Platteville is playing well on both sides of the ball. They have 377 yards of offense and 34 points at halftime. Zach Bothun has over 100 yards rushing including a 75 yard TD run. The defense has  allowed Aurora to move the ball but has come up with turnovers including a recovered fumble on a QB sneak at the 2 yard line. 34-0 at the half Platteville gets the ball 1st in the second half.

As you may have seen, RF over a good Alma team 45-33. Blaha held in check running but passed for 5 td's, on 28/47 completions and a 161 qb rating, as I remember

WIAC opens play with a perfect 7-0 weekend, with La Crosse being lone team not to play. UWO with the most impressive win going out to Oregon and beating preseason #16 Linfield 31-14. Platteville also knocked off a preseason Top 25 team as they went on the road and destroyed #22 Aurora, 41-0.

Yeah that's all great. UWO played well. Mixed up the offense like I've never seen before. Even confused me. Sooooo many people coming in and out of the huddle. Still not sure what position AJ Korth plays. I believe he threw a pass, ran quit a bit, and caught a pass. It was fun watching him play at Menasha. Will be fun watching him play the next 3 yrs. Offensively they should be just fine. Nice senior QB. 2 very different, but solid RBs. 2 very good WRs that have been basically playing a lot since they were sophomores. And i would think the best TE in conference?
Defense played....solid. Feels like a lot of new faces. Feels like MLB Kyle Dietzen has been playing forever. So solid. So good.
Should be a great year in this conference. Probably wide open. Conference play should be fun to watch.
But I think we can take the preseason rankings with a grain of salt. I mean, isn't it just a "copy and paste" from the final rankings from last year? There's only 25 voters, right? Not quit sure who those 25 voters are made up of, but I'm guessing (lol) they really don't pay attention who's coming in and who's going out on all these D3 teams. So if I was to guess, it's a lot of final ranking teams getting votes. Then if your rankings aren't filled, you make sure  all the "purple teams" are in, the best team in the west "Linfield" is in, and AT LEAST 4 from the WIAC are in because of public perception of this being the best conference.
It's cute, but funny....these preseason rankings. But I understand. It's for us to say an unranked UWO team just beat a preseason ranked Linfield.
Look at just today. First week. #10 gets smoked at home. #13 loses to unranked opponent.

Linfield was not good in a home game. UWO was okay, but they will need to be better next week

WARHAWKS rush 51 times for 445 yards.  Stanton finishes with 201 yards on 28.7/carry. Rush defense holds Carleton to 69 yards rushing.

Considering the level of competition, anything less than what we saw from Whitewater yesterday would've been cause for concern... They did exactly what most expected them to do against an inferior opponent.

Hmm ... I think you're confusing our Top 25 with a conference preseason coaches poll. We actually give users a ton of information on who is back and who is gone, and I would recommend podcast 382 where we talk about it more in-depth with an actual voter who's not me or Greg.

It's not just a copy and paste from last year.
