What a program in disarray

The Third Division

You bring in the backup qb from the national runner ups and lose to a school you beat the previous 2 years? Peter Jennings will need to go after this year if things don't improve.

Quote from: AndrewB on September 03, 2026, 04:54:18 AMWhitewater just posted the 2026 roster.  What a program in disarray. 7 Running Backs.  5 Freshman - 2 seniors.  Why do so many players drop from the team?  DB's 10 Freshman - 3 sophomores - 3 Juniors - 2 seniors.
DLine same thing: 9 Freshman - 4 Sophomores - 2 Juniors - 3 Seniors.  Don't know if it's the culture of the team or poor recruiting.  Some of the Freshman have loads of talent.  Matthew Williams should be a receiver but is a DB.  Big test against River Falls week 5.  Hope they're ready.

UW LAX's roster makeup is similar in terms of percentages
So is UWRF's. UWW might be carrying a few more freshman, but it's not like UWW's roster is vastly different.

Matthew Williams is a 5'10" 163 pound freshman. DB sounds like it's a better fit right now. He played DB in high school.

You have some odd thoughts, I'll say that.

Once this gets updated, maybe there will be some insight into whether we lost players to transfer or they just decided that, as they got older, they didn't want to play anymore, couldn't do to injury or any other reason other than "UWW being in disarray."

They might not be North Central, but they're not UWSP. Come on.

La Crosse has 24 seniors on the team.
Whitewater has 11.

That's not close.

Whitewater is returning 88% of its offensive production from last year. LaX is returning 67%. Both are lower on defense, but LaX is even lower still, returning under 50% of its production from last year on that side of the ball. So what if they have more seniors?

Way to move the goalposts.  Changing the subject when it doesn't fit with your statement.  Retention within a program matters.  Especially when it's in the WIAC and one of the more famous programs in D3.

Yes, retention in a program matters, and 22 seniors walked out for Senior Day. Your earlier comment that this is a program in disarray? Wishing it doesn't make it true, brother. UW-W isn't the easiest program to set a program record, and UW-W broke two of them yesterday. Longest run from scrimmage and total yardage in a game. It's only one step, and, like River Falls, we have to do it against the top competition. But if you can't see the upside of this team, then you're telling me you know nothing about football without saying you know nothing about football.

Still going on about this.
FIRST: UWWPOSTED the roster with only 11 seniors!
SECOND: For you to take anything from this win is pointless.  That the non-conference games only get easier is a reflection on how scared UWW was of losing when they made the non-conference schedule.
Let's wait until after week 5 against a real team like River Falls.

Carleton is a decent team in a top 5 conference. 6-3 in the MIAC last year, tied for 3rd.

Also, new guy has lots to learn about how scheduling works. As if teams can pick and chose who they play. So many moving parts in non conference scheduling. Ask any coach.

This is how you say "I don't know jack **** about  WW's scheduling issues," without saying "I don't know jack **** about WW's scheduling issues." Fear has been an issue but it hasn't been a WARHAWK issue.

FWIW, Rhindal doesn't publish the football roster.  It's possible, in fact it seems likely, that the roster initially published was incomplete for one reason or another.  So it was corrected. You have no clue why that was or who. Yet it's just another glaring example of Rhindal's incompetence.
 WTF are you talking about?

We look forward to playing a quality team like RF.

Platteville takes care of business against Aurora. Up 34-0 at halftime on their way to a 44-7. Reserves played the entire 2nd half. Platteville's defense held Aurora to 9 yards rushing. Platteville hosts Dubuque next week.

Eagles lose 24 to 21 at St. John's. Too soft on pass defense. Too many dink and dunk completions allowed. Gotta tighten things up.

How many WIAC championship has Whitewater had over the last 3 years?  That's right, ZERO.
I guess when you're going into the season figuring out that the only way to make the playoffs is as an at large team.  You need to schedule cupcakes.  Funny, when Whitewater was winning the WIAC, it would schedule a team like UMHB.  But now that it's become a defacto opening round playoff game, why risk a lose.

Except...we beat UMHB by 20 points on their home field LAST YEAR! But keep going. This is fun.

And as far as conference championships, talk to me when a team has won more than 39. It's an amazing conference. Your three-year reference is cherry-picking. The fact is that four different programs won championships over the past four years. That's how deep the WIAC is. No one is saying UW-W dominates it like we did for years. The conference schools have stepped up, which is a credit to them. Lots of respect to all of them.

I look forward to playing UW-River Falls. Not because I'd guarantee a victory, but because I think it will be a heckuva football game!

Back to reality for a moment...

UW-W gained the fourth-most yards in a single game in WIAC history on Saturday.

UMHB beat Whitewater by 18 in 2024.  Biggest lose of the year by margin.  Didn't make the playoffs.

And this isn't cherry picking.  Coach Rindahl has been the head coach for the last 3 seasons.

I hope that both UWW and UW-RF are undefeated on week 5.  My guess is that the  game will produce the highest attendance ever for a D3 game at the home teams venue.
