An 8-2 UWW has about a 60% chance of making it in as an at large. I get that's not cut and dry, but it's also not 0. I think it ends up depending on if they beat UWP or UWRF (or both) and how Carleton ends up. But it's too early to say that the WIAC is only guaranteed two spots.

Though you are right. There are fewer AQs this year. And LaCrosse going 0-2 was not on my WIAC playoff team bingo card...they need to run the table to get in now, and they're not going to.

There are more AQs. There are fewer at-larges.

9-1 is MUCH DIFFERENT than 8-2.   

Now I don't know who gets the automatic bid in that case.  But Whitewater would have the lowest NPI of the 3, IF ALL 3 are 9-1.

UWW will be right on the borderline at 8-2.  They will definitely be in at 9-1 at-large.  They need a combination of Carleton going 6-4 or better like last season plus depends on how many at-large teams go 9-1.

Per Logan's site, if Carlton finishes 6-4, Whitewater would have an average NPI of 65.464 which would have made them the 12th at-large team last year or the first team out this season (only 11 at-large bids this year). Obviously the NPI cut off will be different this year but it seems to be tracking for UWW to be very close to the edge at 8-2.

Exactly. I think the challenge for 8-2 teams this year is not only less pool C spots but we might have more 9-1 pool C teams this year. For example last year Wheaton in second place in CCIW was 8-2. This year whoever ends up in second will be 9-1. Could same hold true for WIAC?

Given that River Falls has to go to both UWW and UWP, I could easily see them being the 8-2 team and the third team in the playoffs. But I don't know if they've got the juice to go into Waverly and beat a Wartburg team that almost beat NCC last week. We still don't really know who River Falls is this year.

But an 8-2 River Falls team with losses at UWW and UWP likely gets in, assuming they beat Wartburg.

Yea, there's a very real possibility that the second place team in the WIAC is 9-1. Heck, there's a chance for a three way tie at the top at 9-1, where some combination of UWW, UWRF and UWP all come out of that mix with one loss and none of them lose in non-conference. But we'll see after this weekend.

It was a big win against Alma.  Great week to catch Coe.  Right after a physical loss to UW-RF.  The offensive should get better every week.  They just don't get the fan support because of the crappy stadium location.

You seem to be really hung up on Jace...are you just upset that UW0 hired PeteyBananas because they knew they wanted Jace to be the coach whenever Bullis decided to move on? Or what's the deal here?

I'm sure UWW would love to play UMU in non-conference if it makes sense, but do you think UMU is going to want to play a WIAC school for that game, when winning is at such a premium now for at-large bids?

Don't both coaches have the same amount of WIAC conference titles?

But, to this Mount Union thing.

First, I don't think Mount Union will be afraid.  They have won 9 consecutive conferences championships, so they shouldn't have to worry about an at-large bid.

Second, it's been over a decade since these two teams have meet.

Third, Whitewater is the closest WIAC team to Ohio.  (Less travel for both teams)

Fourth, Whitewater wouldn't have to schedule a NAIA team. 

This is the perfect fit for a big non-conference game.
