Mount definitely with the toughest first 3 games in the league
Toss-up between BW and Heidi for the easiest.
Muskie with the most interesting recruiting.  Around 80 freshmen this year and ~ 1/4 from Ohio and new strategy of if you can breathe, you get an 'offer' may pay off!

Since we are only a little over 7 days out from kickoff, here's the Wheaton season preview

Wow! A news release (although obviously tilted toward the home team) that gives us some idea of what Mount Union is missing in their publicity at this point.  Do we even have a chance? Do we have a team?  No info from the SID or anywhere else from the college--excuse me--the university.

Mount will have their game notes uploaded by next Friday night

Quote from: Captainred81 on August 28, 2025, 03:04:26 PMA) I think we should table the criticism and wait for the season to start.  We were in the Stagg Bowl last year, and had a solid chance to win the game.

B)  110 Incoming freshman in this day and age is amazing.  He must be doing something right to get that amount of players.

C)  I will be thoroughly let down if Mount is not in this years Canton Stagg Bowl.  Not by players or coaches, just in general.

D)  I skimmed through the roster and the QB and RB rooms are gonna be full.  Good to see Leibler on the list.  Also, looking forward to seeing what Jerry Copper Jr. can do this year.  I think he really started to turn it on last year at the end of the season

At last, a voice of reason.

I'd argue that if your whole schtick is "the standard is the standard" and #TheStandard, then you are opening up yourself to higher levels of criticism than any other program at this level.

The kids should be more or less off-limits (and mostly have been), but I think "the standard" not having a full-time strength and conditioning coach until this year and still not having an offensive coordinator is worthy of criticism, the incredible drop-off in Sports Information is 100% worthy of criticism, the embarrassing coaching decisions on national TV have to be discussed if you are "the standard".

That being said, Go Ders, bring home #14

Lack of attention to detail from the Sports Information Department ... or somewhere:  Cecil Shorts III, 2025 Mount Union M Club Hall of Fame inductee, twice indicated to be from the Class of 2021 ('21).

Ahhh...
He is qualifying under "15 years after last competition" vice the article being incorrect for his graduation year (which I had assumed to be 2011, based upon his last season in 2010).
If he took the Spring semester off to prepare for the NFL draft, he might not have gotten around to finishing the classes for his degree until 2021.
Likely, my bad for thinking it was an attention to detail slip on the publisher's part.
Let me get back to looking for my Medicare card.

The article says 2021.
He left Mount Union for the NFL before graduation.  After his NFL career he later returned to Mount to complete his degree.

$7.5m career earnings by the time he was 29.  I think taking off a semester paid off pretty well for CS3.
