Not OAC related, but kind of Mount related...I saw W&J is 0-2 and on the road at Grove City.  When is the last time they started 0-3?  I checked the historical schedules on here so it's prior to 1998 at least.  I didn't see a media guide on W&J's site.  With as consistent as they've been there are only a handful of times they lost 3 games in a season over the last 25+ years let alone 0-3 so I'm guessing it's been a long time.

Shedeur Sanders got in some extra work this week at a BW practice.  Judging by his 13-12 record at Colorado, he picked the perfect place to get some throws in

The Yellowjackets are so desperate for a victory over the Purple Raiders, they are trying to talk
Shedeur Sanders into becoming a college student again.

Quote from: Captainred81 on September 24, 2025, 02:18:45 PMI think you're right on the Columbus area schools having a huge HS football field*** of recruits, but there is a ton of schools recruiting the area too.  I'm guessing every D3 school in Ohio is spending umpteen days/weeks at the area high schools.  Its probably hard to get the top recruits.  I think if they could some how find a bit of success, maybe even in the transfer portal, they could convince some of the better local talent to sign on

I've mentioned this before but in suburban Columbus there is a scholarship mentality.  Its's hard to sell D3 sports to the kids in Dublin, Gahanna, Hilliard, Westerville, Pickerington, etc.  Parents are paying thousands for travel sports when kids are in elementary school with the goal that some day their kid is going to get an athletic scholarship (that math doesn't always math because they spend more on travel sports and personal trainers than they get in scholarship money).

D2 schools like Ohio Dominican, Ashland, Tiffin, etc. come in offering any amount of money and they instantly jump ahead of the D3 schools.  Even when in many cases the kid will end up paying more (with the athletic scholarship) at the D2 than the would have at some of the local D3 schools.

I've been involved with high school sports here for over 20 years and I've seen it happen time after time.  Kids want to sign a LOI on signing day even if they're only getting a $500 "athletic scholarship."

lol BW, never change

Blah. I'd still pick Ed Bubonics' kid.

BW could roll out the sons of every NFL great and they'd still end up 6-4 (winning record!!!!).  At least they are trying something different with Mount Union sons...Bubonics and Mulinix, hopefully they can end up 9-1 or 8-2

Happy Embarrass BW Day to all who celebrate!  In a time when people can't agree on anything one thing almost everyone agrees on is that BW sucks.  I went back and looked at the least few matchups to refresh my memory.  I'm really, really hoping we don't get one of the "how is this a 1 score game??" editions of the rivalry.  I'd much prefer a "how is Maloney this good already?" edition this year.

2024:  52-14 win in Berea.  Over at half (42-14).

2023:  41-17 win at home.  Had it about wrapped up at half, but gave up a 42 yd TD pass on the final play (24-10).

2022:  23-21 win in Berea.  The hail Mary prayer answered.  I forgot Mount had a complete implosion in the 4th qtr giving up a 17-0 lead.  I must have suppressed that painful memory.

2021:  31-7 win at home.  Final score was a bit deceiving.  It was a 14-7 game deep into the 3rd qtr.

2020:  Cancelled.  I don't remember that Covid season, but this was the only game that didn't get played.

2019:  45-7 win at home.  Over at half (24-0).

I celebrate as well!   I may actually head over to Berea if I have a few minutes.

Yeah ... What's with that?
Offense moving the ball at a ~75% clip for Mount Union.

Everyone but Geoff Dartt saw that run on fourth down coming...

The defense looks abysmal.  The team as a whole is flat which is always good to see in your one and only rivalry game now.
