Cap and Ott have improved from the last few years.  Etta has no pass defense and no offense without Hodges.  And JCU is happy with the move to NCAC

I had the JCU game on another screen for the 1st half.  They were up 28-3 at half and held Wabash to 64 yds.

That was the last Mount Union Game I attended in person.  :(

Well, at least you manned up and took responsibility.

I read your post and laughed for minutes ... Really!
To put it in OAC football perspective, Dartt says, "I have this cute cousin I am matching you up with for a blind date..."
Woof! ... LOL!!!

If you search my past posts you'll see I've posted this before.  I was also there, in person, for the ONU loss at home and the UMHB loss at home during the playoffs.

Incredibly shocking and disappointing result in yesterday's game. I think a lot of Marietta fans were hoping that the close games vs. Otterbein and Capital were flukes. Not the case. Hard to believe that this team beat Westminster in week one (who may very well win the PAC).

Marietta has major issues at QB and in the secondary. Two All-American linebackers will only take you so far on defense.

Seems like the switch flipped from playing for playoffs to playing for pride real quick. New staff needs a monster recruiting class and may need to hit the portal for a QB.

Dr. Acula

Preseason we thought maybe, but weren't sure, but 4 games in we have a better idea.  Based on the current state of the OAC this seems to be BW's best chance to make the playoffs in a while.  Which, inevitably, means they'll drop one to Muskie or something and go 8-2.

This was Cap's fear when Collins left.  Berg's fear when Hallett left.  Is the program foundation built for sustained success or was it a transformational player or HC that elevated the program temporarily?  In Cap's case the answer is clear because without Collins and Pentello, well.  Berg has never been quite as good as with Hallett, but they've been pretty good and definitely sustained a solid program under Donaldson.  I hope Etta lands in the latter camp.

It's 1 loss for Etta, lets not write the obituary yet.  ONU could be bouncing back under Fries.

Dr. Acula

It's one loss after escaping Bexley.  That's half the season to date.  And as someone who has watched a couple ONU games it's not ONU unless the conference is way down.  Not downplaying ONU but just what I saw.

Quote from: edward de vere on October 02, 2025, 04:57:31 PMMount's game should be a snooze but there are four (4!!!) games this week matching teams in the top 15.  I wonder if that's ever happened before in the regular season.

Yeah I'm curious to see how Wheaton matches up against NCC in the Little Brass Bell game.

If first half Wheaton shows up it'll be a NCC beatdown.  If second half Wheaton shows up, they will put up a couple garbage time TD's to cut the NCC lead to 3-4 scores

Wow, not a lot of confidence in the Thunder. We shall see.

if Mount didn't completely take their foot off of the gas (pull a Dartt, if you  will), the two finals scores are probably fairly similar.  I know that there is a WIAC lovefest going on in the D3FB world.  But just like it has been for decades, it's Mount and somebody else at the top....and then everyone else.  NCC is the new UWW.  Hopefully the NCAA is wise enough/finds enough "travel restrictions" to keep NCC and Mount on opposite sides of the playoff bracket.

on the Monday of Wilma week

the 2005 Mount championship team made NCAA history as the first team to have a 3,000 yard passer (Jorris - 3736), two 1,000 yard rushers (Kmic - 1219, ARob - 1046) and two 1,000 yard receivers (Garcon - 1196, Casto - 1223).  With the explosive and well-balanced offense shown so far by the Raiders, is there a chance that they could repeat this feat, but add a third 1,000 yard receiver?

A deep playoff run is obviously needed to accumulate such gaudy stats, so lets assume a Stagg Bowl appearance.

3,000 yards = 200/gm.  That should be pretty easy for Maloney.  I'd guess Mount has had a 3000 yard passer every year since the Piloto/Seaman years

1000 yards =  67/gm.  Williams is currently averaging 99 and Thomas is 64.  With the "lighter" portion of the OAC schedule coming up, I think that we'll see an even more evenly split number of carries for the two backs.

WR- Turner - 98/gm Cockrell - 65/gm Grant - 67/gm

Turner seems to be Maloney's favorite target this season and should coast to 1000 yards.  Cockrell has hit on numerous explosive receptions this season.  Without a couple of dropped balls on Saturday, he'd also be up over 300 yards so far.  I'd feel better about Grant if he hadn't missed the Ott game.  Hopefully he was out just due to being cautious.  After seeing him last year at Muskie, I think we'll get a couple of monster games out of him by season's end.

none of this means a whole lot without a ring at the end of the year, but this offense is one of the most balanced that we have seen in quite a while.

D3fanboy

ONU's loss to Franklin (the apparent OAC killer) looks like it might be costly for a potential OAC runner-up.  BW hasn't had a more clear path to the playoffs in 30+ years, 9-1 and they are most likely in.  ONU would be in the same boat without the loss to Franklin.  ONU has a slight glimmer of playoff hope at 8-2 with only a loss to Mount.  The BW-ONU game might be for who can get a shot at Canton, but only that lame "bowl game" and not the national championship playoffs

Did they roll back glove technology or something? I feel like I've noticed more drops in college football this year than I have in a long time

Yet still managed to lose to ONU at home!
