QuoteMikey Maloney through 3 games so far this season:

62/87 - 71.3% completion percentage

875 Passing Yards

9 Passing Touchdowns

18 carries, 133 yards and one Touchdown on the ground

https://x.com/LucasCochran16/status/1972294679615115755

Maloney's first three career starts (against three playoff-ish caliber teams), 3+ more years of him in Alliance as well

Let's hope he sticks around.

I hate that college football is this way, but I wouldn't worry about that at all

I'd think the only threat is an Ashland type coming knocking maybe but I hope it's low likelihood of any of it.  I would be surprised if a D1 showed up with an offer that moves the needle but I still worry by nature.

I remember when Capital used to be a guaranteed like 50 point win  :'(

Some of us are old enough to remember when Cap was a major threat in the playoffs and Berg was a guaranteed 50 point win.  And no, that's not fun to admit.

I remember when Capital had an 8 Year Starting QB.

I hear that Rocky Pentello still has a year of eligibility at Capital! :o  8-)

Maloney turned down an offer from a non scholarship D1 school to come to Mount Union, I'm not sure he'd be very enticed by going D2. I'm more worried about Youngstown State, Duquesne or Robert Morris, but I doubt they're spending much time scouting the D3 world.

I'm from the era when JCU was a solidly mediocre OAC team, which is why I'm not as worried that they left the conference, somebody else will pick up the slack.

That means you're young!  I'm jealous.  I remember the Tom Arth JCU team which is arguably the best non-Mount OAC team in 3 decades.  Pentello Cap would probably be 2nd.  For those old enough to remember in terms of raw talent the Franzer/Robertson ONU teams were absolutely loaded but were basically the James Franklin of the OAC with Kaz at the helm.

I Also remember the great Tom Arth JCU team, the when where he coached them to a semi finals appearance, and beat Mount at home!  ;D

You don't need to remind us of those bad memories, WRMU!!

I looked at the game notes for this week.  Didn't notice much if anything in the way of changes.  For a game like Ott they should maybe give us the 3 deep so we know who everyone is though.

That was the last Mount Union Game I attended in person.  :(

As a Mount Union fan it was pretty painful, but as an OAC fan it was awesome to have a year with two teams in the semis. We were only a combined 11 points from seeing a Mount Union JCU Stagg Bowl

Not so fast my friend, this is a much better Otterbein team than they've been the last few seasons.

after last year's absolute turd against Otterbein, I hope that this year's Raiders make a statement early and often

I hope you're right because I want them to be ascending, but their defense is bad.  50 points and 548 yards allowed per game.  8.3 yds/rush.  8.9 yds/play.  It looks like they're improving week to week which is positive, but the step up to Mount's offensive firepower is a whole different animal.  Unless Mount no shows like last year they should pretty much score at will.
