;D Did I mention my daughter is working for Coach Hallet

Really?  Wow.  We didn't even know she was at Heidelberg.  When did that happen?  You should really make a conscious effort to keep us updated on your personal life.

Holy cow, that makes my head spin.......kind of makes me feel inadequate that my kid went to MUC, played some ball, and will graduate in four years with a job as a 2nd Louie in the Army.  ;)

The end of college and a job, what more could a Dad want

Yep, the job placement rate in the Army is 100%!  He's part of the 1st ROTC class at MUC to graduate.  We will not only be able to see him graduate on Saturday, but we will also pin his Lt. bars on him at a commissioning ceremony right after.

His older brother, a West Point grad, is currently an Platoon Leader in Iraq (Infantry, Ranger).....so, we will soon have two deployed.

Sometimes, it's fun watching them grow up.........other times, not so much.  Best wishes to all the grads!

God bless you and your sons!

As someone who lived (lives) that life, I wish your son (actually, both sons) the best of luck.  The Army, especially as a young officer, is a constant challenge, but incredibly rewarding.  The mantle of leadership is not one to be taken lightly, but I am sure the values you instilled in your boys and the training they received through USMA and ROTC has more than prepared them for whatever they may face.  The lessons your son learned on the field and the character building he endured at the hands of Coach Kehres and others in the MUC football program will only add to his potential for success.

I know it's tough on the family with deployment looming, but I commend you on your attitude toward it.  Your sons made a hard choice to serve their country in a time of war and they should be applauded for it.  You have to trust that their training and intellignece will see them through safely.  I assure you they will be trained to the highest standard, their Soldiers will be highly trained and professional, and they will have the best equipment available.  All the variables for success are there and hopefully that makes you rest easier.

If I can be of ANY kind of assistance, to you or your sons, please let me know.

Oh, and Army money isn't bad for a first job either.  Especially when it's tax free with Hazardous Duty Pay added in when in a combat zone.  Leadership, travel, good money; if it weren't for the whole leaving your family and putting yourself in harm's way, the Army might be the best gig out there.  ;D

In my young life, nothing has meant more to me than having my Mom and Dad pin on my 2LT bars, my wife pin on my 1LT and CPT rank (fiancee when she pinned me with 1LT), and my son pin on my MAJ rank.  I assure you it will be extremely emotional for both you and he.  Just make sure you put them on straight.  Of course with one already in, you probably have some practice.  ;D

THough I doubt that the question was asked seriously given the source, a serious answer is yes, they would.  Especially the National Guard or Army Reserve, who are both understrength officers.

According to the AEFS Director at the local chapter of the Red Cross, the Army is accepting enlistees up to the age of 60.  They are especially interested in truck drivers.
