9. Same purple powers usually are in it based on bracket. Change it up.
10. It's on a Friday. *High School state championships in Texas the same weekend.
11. Lack of awareness from lack of marketing.

I read that the attendance for the Saturday UIL (Texas) 6A championships at AT&T Jerry World was 32,302 (including 1,000 college football coaches   ;) ).

There were 12 state champs crowned in 4 days in Arlington, TX

The Trinity/Southlake game kind of set the bar. They filled the entire cowboy stadium back in 2006. They would probably do it again in the new Jerry World if those two teams ever meet up again.

Total attendance for Saturday's 3 games was 120,615.  The highest single game for the day was 45,769 at Dallas South Oak Cliff vs Liberty Hill.  Liberty Hill has one of the prettiest and most classic offenses you'll see today running the Slot-t offense.

The smallest attendance at the Texas HS playoffs was 2257 between Matador Motley County vs Strawn.  Strawn has 161 people in the school K-12 and Motley County has 150.

Edit: Added a comma.

In the reign supreme years, what's the farthest UMU has traveled to play a game?

Mount's travelled to Wisconsin a few times (UW-LAX and UW-O), Michigan  ('94 National Champ Albion), did an east coast swing through Hobart(NY), Johnny Hopkins (MD) and Alfred (NY) in '16, only played one game in Texas that actually counts.  Not a lot of room for road games when Mount was winning 109 out of 110 games and 13 straight Stagg Bowls that count.  I do believe that Mount would have had to travel in '05 when they lost to ONU in the regular season.  I want to say that it was Wabash that was the #1 seed in Mount's region, but they lost to Capital.

That Capital team was nasty.
I am a NATIONAL Champion, and I refuse to lose!

30 year old QB, huge WR that couldn't be stopped and "nasty" is the perfect word for that defense.  By then end of 2005, Cap was right on par with the top 2-3 D3 teams.  Unbelievable how Cap went from that to current times

I attended the 2005 playoff game between Wabash and Capital, played at Wabash.  The final scored was 14-11, and I was very impressed by Rocky and the cru.  Wabash was driving at the end of the game--could possibly have won.  The Wabash QB threw an interception from inside the 10 at the end of the game.  Those Capital teams of the mid-2000s were impressive.  We still joke about Pentello (spelling?), but that's a sign of respect from most of us.  It seems like he played at Capital for 8 or 9 years.
The coach in those years was Jim Collins.  Last month, Wittenberg hired him as their new HC, replacing Joe Fincham.  In the last two years, Witt has slipped some.  Can Collins do return them to the top of the NCAC  (and beyond)?

South of Cbus could be a D3 recruiting powerhouse...if any local program gave a crap about football

purple

The most disturbing development as a Purple person is the size difference we keep running into. WWW beat us with size. IMO we would have been much closer to NC in good weather, which negates size advantages to some degree.
I went to the Stagg Bowl and it was very well done in a beautiful stadium. Not a bad seat in the house.
NC made Mount Union look small. MHB made NC look small.
NC could not run the ball on MHB, and their QB had to throw. He couldn't.
Have the Stagg in Texas, they have earned it.

No doubt.  Mount is behind the 8 ball with no full time strength and conditioning coordinator/assistants

Dub Dub came out of obscurity with their 2005 45 - 42 win IN McMinnville.

UW-Whitewater was ranked No. 2 in the country at the point of that game.

What was their ranking in 2003-04? Did you or Gordon cover the 1 vs. 2 game?  I can't remember who I saw.

My grandmother's funeral was that weekend, so I did not attend.

Their ranking previous to 2005 is not super relevant considering they were No. 2 entering the playoffs. :)
