Yep, so, Canton told the NCAA they don't want to host a night game, and with that, we might have to accept a midweek day game.

as horrible as the NCAA and ESPN are, the Hall of Fame Village in Canton might actually be worse.  If the NCAA really gave a crap about D3FB, they would have yanked the Stagg Bowls from Canton after the bill of goods that they were sold and the lack of progress and put them back in Salem.

HOF Village is a complete sh!t show.  The hotel/indoor water park has basically been abandoned partially completed by the developer.  Pizza Oven is in a lawsuit with HOF Village I read in the paper last week.  Everything about that development has been a mess from the start.

I am only planning on keeping it for football.  Keeping it for couple of months for the football season costs just about as much as the yearly subscription price.
Hope it is going to be worth it.

I signed up for the annual plan.

as we finally inch closer to kickoff on Saturday, and the inevitable "experts" picking an upset in Alliance.  I thought that we would look at a couple of things that analytics doesn't pick up on.

Mount Union has won 37 straight season openers, last season opening loss 1987 vs Wooster.

Mount Union has not lost back-to-back games since 1988 (@Denison 27-41 and @Berg 14-24)

Mount Union has won 74 straight regular season games, currently the longest streak in all divisions

Since 1985, Mount Union is 283-13-3 at home

Since 1990, Mount Union is 339-4-1 in the regular season

Mount Union is 6-0 against Wheaton, with an average score of 41-13

not saying that Wheaton can't win on Saturday, they most certainly can.  They are likely on par, or even better than some of the teams that gave Mount an L on the above list.  The pressure is squarely on the Purple Raiders to continue the most incredible dynasty in the history of college football.

I don't think this has been discussed yet but I saw this young man added to the roster:

Grad Transfer WR from Concordia Chicago added to the MTU WR Room.

Wheaton web site had it as 1:00 PM all summer; Mount Union web site had it as 1:30 PM.

Now Mount Union web site has switched to 1:00 PM as well, and the FloFootball web site shows a 1:00 PM stream start time. So it seems like the earlier time is the one.

email sent out to Mount season ticket holders today has the kick at 1:00

I'm not taking credit, but.... since we've made our complaints on here, I feel like we've received more preseason Mount Union football information than we've received in the past 10 years! The SID has been holding out on us.

Excited for the new year!!!!

Isn't this why it's called an "upset"? 13 losses in 40 years shouldn't give any Mt Union fans cause for concern.

Game notes are up.  Always interesting to see the first 2 deep of the season.  Things that stood out to me:

Chase Copper (JR) is QB2 out of the gate.  I wasn't sure where Dyrlund would potentially land.

Not surprisingly the 3 starting WR are Turner and the two newcomers, Grant and Cockrell.

I'm surprised to see no Jackson Harris on the DL 2 deep especially with a FR as the backup DT.  Perhaps he's hurt.

As expected Liebler and Thrasivoulou are starting at CB.  Both CB2's are FR.

Rinard (210 lbs) and Cruz (205 lbs) are starting at LB.  Former Avon LB turned UC baseball player turned Mount LB Erhardt is backing up Rinard.

Lavelle at C and Fortner at RG is certainly something.

It sounds like Dyrlund is likely QB3, probably looking to get him a lot of JV playing time.

I think that there will be a lot of rotation at LB early on.  I think Rinard will be one of the main LB, the gap filler, etc and Cruz can really run.  Ehrhardt is a D1 athlete, so there are big hopes when he gets back into the football rhythm.

The lack of Harris on the depth chart and in the season preview raises an eyebrow.  He's definitely there, so hopefully whatever is happening is nothing too serious

My brain hurts after trying to read this tidbit from the Game Notes:

FOR KICKS: Senior K Ivan Maric made a program-record 51-yard field goal against Capital in 2004. His 43-yarder vs.
Salisbury in last year's NCAA Quarterfinals.

I'm not finding game notes, just a season preview.  Enlighten me.

I can't believe that Mount and Wheaton havent played since 2008.  Seemed like it was nearly a yearly thing there for a while
