Quick, late thoughts on the ONU game.

Someone mentioned earlier and I agree, the corners are the best Mount has had in a while.  Kosta has been excellent opposite Liebler.

Minner has given them a nice spark in his increased carries with Thomas out.  It's nice to have quality depth to hopefully keep legs fresh for the playoffs.  Weaver has also looked solid in his limited touches.

I'll echo what fanboy said, the drops have to stop.  That's a potential back breaker in a playoff game.

I was impressed with Blasiole from ONU.  He runs hard and is a PITA to get down with his build.

I thought overall the D played well.  Feldman did misfire on at least two deep balls where he had guys open though.

Final thought is that I'm very thankful for Maloney.  He's already really good and he's just getting started.  Knowing you've got a dude at QB is so much fun.

Minner might be the guy by the time the playoffs hit.  He looked like a future star last year in limited time, and has definitely improved this year.  That little three RB backfield formation Mount runs some will be pretty nice with Minner, Williams, Thomas, Maloney and those two TE.  Gonna be tough to defend in short yardage/red zone

Maloney isn't going anywhere, but in the extremely rare chance that he gets poached.  Mount picked up a "commitment" from a 1st team all-state PA QB that looks like the heir apparent to MM.  6-2/200ish 4000 yards last year as a jr, should replicate those numbers/accolades this year.

Said this very thing on Saturday.

The thing I love the most about having a QB that's a threat to pull it and run is all the looks they can give defenses with the fakes, designed runs, etc. that loosen everything up.  It's been said multiple times by multiple people that the lack of running threat by the QB has been a negative.  I think this year so far confirms that thinking.

there was a decent amount of straight option runs from Maloney against ONU, he didn't look like he had an intention of pitching it but they were not the typical read option plays

Good point.  I think I saw at least twice where it was a straight old school option run.  As they said on the broadcast, just another wrinkle opponents have to keep in mind.

KB was the ultimate gamer.  He piloted a great '12 Raiders team to a title and then literally carried the '13 and '14 teams on his back to the Stagg with not exactly great defenses. Imagine if KB would have been around during the  D3FB getting an easy 5th year....that 2015 team would have been an all-timer (btw, it already is).  There are plenty of Mount fans that wonder what the 2011 Stagg Bowl would have looked like with freshman KB at QB instead of the Piloto/Seaman show.

D3fanboy

ex-BW head coach John Snell is the chair of the D3FB playoff committee, great podcast interview by Pat and crew...but I don't have much hope for a slightly better than mediocre bracket coming from the BW man in charge

Pat Coleman

Thanks -- of course, the NCAA and the budget folks are really in charge, when it's all said and done.

Snell will probably nail 5 or 6 out every 10 selections and celebrate it like a Stagg Bowl victory

Dartt master class in the first quarter

mucgrad06

What exactly am I listening to today. Did Mount take the week off from practicing defense.

Fido0650

The only thing I've ever seen get beat worse than Thrasivoulou has this first half was when my great grandmother used to hang her rugs out on the clothes line and beat the dirt out of them.

mucgrad06

This is not a championship defense. They seem to be digressing since the 4th quarter of game one.
