I think we may need to start entertaining the idea that mount (lowercase is intentional) could finish this year at 6-4 (maybe 5-5!) miss the playoffs, and unranked. Right now at 1-2 and still have BW, ONU, Marietta ahead.BW has put up 126 points in 2 games. The Pios have looked good and seem to give Mount some headache games anyway. No one in OAC is worried about facing mount right now.

I assume that Mount desperately wants to avoid a riff with Coach Kehres. At his age, there would likely not be enough time for things to heal. If - IF - they want to move on from GD, they have to be hoping that he resigns or that Coach Kehres gives his blessing/comes to them and says "do what you need to do".

Oh I doubt any major football decision happens without LK's blessing

I've still got the feeling Mount is going to rip off 8 straight and end the regular season 8-2. The big concern would be that they need some help to parlay that into a playoff appearance, as Heidelberg needs 2 loses for Mount to win the OAC in that scenario. And given the fact ONU has been all over the place recently, and that BW will always find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, that could be a tall order.

I have heard that LK and GD are not on the same page and that LK would not stand in the way of GD being fired.

There was an incident at practice a few years back between the two and it's not been a good relationship since.

Maybe not but the whispers i heard were that part if why KB came back was because GD wanted to move on. Not saying there is any truth to it - purple and K&J would most likely know more than I. But essentially both CK and KB would have a shot at HC at end of year.

Normally I would be annoyed having to attend a fall wedding, but yesterday was a blessing to miss half of that debacle.  The last I saw was Mount going up 14-13, but at that point I had seen enough to assume that at best they would eek out a close win against a team that isn't great.  Instead a senior threw for almost half of his career passing yards yesterday against Mount.  Threw 5 picks.  And still won.  A third week of almost non-existent offense in the first half.  I've lost count of how many weeks it is of coming out flat in general.  It's a broken record. 

After Wheaton I thought I was overreacting thinking those didn't look like top 10 teams and definitely not top 5 teams IMO.  After last week I didn't think Mount was a top 15 team.  Now I agree with whoever said they'll be ranked this week, but probably only because it's Mount. They aren't good.  They can certainly improve as the season goes on, but what would give us any confidence in that happening?  I'm still holding out hope that the OC and DC will figure some stuff out and make adjustments, but they need to happen quickly because they aren't even a playoff team right now and that's a fantasy right now because this won't be the last OAC loss the way they've been playing.  And this isn't the glory days of past where the OAC had ONU or JCU teams that were legit NCAA quarterfinal/semifinal caliber teams.  The OAC is not strong at the top right now. 

About the only positives I saw yesterday were that it seems like they have possible future stud freshmen at RB and WR.

And purple may be correct that there's "no chance, none, zero" of a coaching change.  That's the AD's call (with LK's input, I'm sure).  But if that is not even a possibility then you're becoming just an extension of the admissions department now measuring success by roster size and not a serious program with championship expectations.  You can't constantly talk about the standard and then actively erode it in front of everyone's eyes and not expect questions to be asked.

Who would have thought a month ago that the Cleveland Guardians have a better chance of winning the World Series than the Mount Union Purple Raiders have of winning the Stagg Bowl?  Ugh.

As much as I would like to see GD move on, and as displeased as I have been during his entire tenure, i am reminded of a conversation I had with my daughters softball team (about 5 of them) at dinner after a game. They lost. It was another throwing error on the same girl and the claws were out at dinner - she wasnt there. All i asked was: ,,you have all seen how good she is in practice, so do you think she is trying to lose?". Thats it. Nothing  else - change subject and the parents just started talking.

So, do we think GD or KB or KC is trying to lose? Their pedigree is beyond question. GD was an all-american. National champ as a player, and as an asst coach. KB was a 2x Gagliardi award winner, national champ as a player. KC - also national champ as a player and an asst coach. All 3 bleed Purple. Period.

So I thimk we agree they arent ,,trying to lose" and leave out the personal attacks. The questions are either related to coaching ability or player ability. I know KB is breaking in a new role - he hasnt been a playcaller before. I dont think the D has played badly - big plays are a problem - but they are on the field too much. Too many 3 and 4 outs, turnovers, etc. I think we all agree that the problem is the offense has been almost awful. And since we all know KB is not trying to lose - we have to suffer through.

We all have said ,I know this wont last forever' and ,lets enjoy this ride while it lasts' or something to that extent for the past 25+ years. Well the ride is over, and now we wait. Roll Raiders ~ Roll!
