I wonder if Rocky checked out the retirement package? I mean after 17 seasons with Capital and Toledo (and probably a few more under an alias like "Roccolo Pentello" a foreign exchange student from Italy) - it is just around the corner. Does anybody know what the guys in "the other leagues" make? I always wondered what guys in NFL Europa (like Arth or Adamson) or the many Arena leagues actually bring in. Can they make a living on it? Curious.

I have been told that Arena 2 players make 500 dollars a month plus room and board....

Congrats to Rocky

Slightly more than substitute teachers ::)

I have a friend that gets free room and board in Marion, but that's a different "league" where the word "bar" has a different meaning

I can't imagine trying to catch a Rocky Pentello pass in a confined area

I know a guy who was with the Tampa Bay Storm a couple years back, and he had to keep his day job during the season to get by.  Rocky's probably not going to be able to pick up too many bar tabs (unless he gets a senior citizen discount).  Sorry couldn't resist.

Genius Gone Bad

Maybe it's just me, but I thought Rocky was a much better prospect then just playing in the NIFL.  I really thought he'd get into a NFL or CFL camp. Granted those aren't sure things like the contract he signed, but I still feel the kid is a better player then where he's going to play.  Please don't take it as me knocking Rocky.  I just feel he's a better player then where he is going to play.

The lower level indoor leagues are good places to learn the arena game for a career in that league, but it's a long way to the NFL.  I believe we have a former poster on this board who has much more first person experience on the comparison of arena ball and the NFL.

Despite ranking on Rocky all these years, I too am a little surprised he settled for the bottom end of arena football. Seems sad to go through all he has and find yourself playing with guys whose last team was some high school.

While Rocky could possibly play at a higher level, at least he's playing and probably having some fun.  Based on the photos from the Mayhem website, I must say the dancers don't quite measure up to AFL standards.  I have no idea how the football compares.
