How do you figure GC was "Better than Mount most of the game"

After 3, Mount had outgained them 298-260. What kept GC in the game was 3 picks that were great plays by the D.

How was GC was better team for most of the game? It's not hard: they had more points. Mount led briefly (for less two minutes) late in the 2Q, and then again in the last 12 seconds. GC held the lead for 48 minutes.

They had a big 3 point lead because Mount elected to run on 4th down rather than go for a cheap-shot FG on its first possession.

Even before its final possession, which gained 70 yards, Mount had outgained GC 363-271.

Points alone is a simple-minded way to judge the better team.

It didn't happen here, but how often have you heard it said that the better team didn't win?

So what do you guys think about SFU being competitive going forward?  I feel like we have a pretty nice campus and a great coach but I really don't know.  Is it hard to recruit good athletes to places like Thiel and Hiram?  Also, is SFU kind of in the same boat?  We have probably good facilities for D3 but I see that St. Vincent's made a big upgrade and are better than our's at this point and our campus is pretty rural.

I wanted to make sure that you guys realize that I watch more D3 football than probably 99% of football fans.  I swear I was like one of the first five followers of the Third Division on IG LOL.
