Seems like Sean Allen has been there forever.

Most interesting thing I see is the transfer WR from NIU (who had 17 catches in 2023 but didn't play in 2024). Was a bit worried about the WR depth outside of Skokna.

North Central's opener this week in Naperville vs UW Oshkosh got a little more intriguing with UWO's win on the road @Linfield Saturday. They pretty much dominated the Cats which was surprising. Linfield averaged 45 pts a game and 155 yds per game rushing last year while going 10-2. UWO held them to 14 pts and 22 yds rushing (25 att) for 0.9 yds per carry. It's particularly surprising because UWO had just 2 of their defensive front 7 returning.

I don't know if Linfield is down this year but UWO looked very impressive. I knew they have several playmakers on offense and a fairly new OL (134 yds rushing, 3.4 yd per carry).

Given NCC's calling card of being a physical running team with big play skill players I'll be interested to see how the Cardinals perform this weekend, especially with mostly new OL and a new QB.

I think NCC's defense will be just fine and I'll be surprised if UWO scores that much on the Cardinal's but if UWO's defense can show up like they did in McNinnville Saturday it could be quite a game.

Having watched the Wheaton @UMU game 2x now I am really impressed with the new starters Mt Union has fielded. Particularly on the Offensive Line. New QB Mike Maloney rightfully gets all the headlines but their new Offensive linemen are really good. Well coached, physical, aggressive, great footwork. And all of the new starters, other than QB Maloney, are Seniors or Juniors. It really says a lot about the top programs, who mostly win with upper class players, when you plug new starters in and they have been in your program for 2-3 yrs already.

Thats what I expect from NCC on Saturday. They lose a heck of an OL contingent and while they return Durian (OC) and Knaperek (14 starts over 3 yrs), who they trot out on Saturday will be a storyline for me. I expect to see returning RB Sean Allen get a lot of the work and Ashiru at QB.

I don't know if it's the west coast or the 20 years of not winning anything of significance, but damn Linfield looks small and slow.  is there a more year-in-year-out overrated program than Linfield?  If they were in Texas, they might be a top 8 team though

still working through the roster but the first thing that jumps out is Preseason All-American defensive tackle Cortez Jones has changed from #97 to #52 and is now listed as an Offensive lineman...

I know they had him practice there in the spring but wasn't sure if it would stick come the fall

Another interesting addition is Zion Woodhull-Trippett, a QB transfer from Mt. Union. He's a big guy at 6'3 and 213. With all the focus on Wilson and Ashiru, there's really not been any chatter about him. It'll be interesting to see if he factors into the QB equation at any point.

Also, and I might have missed the news, but it appears there exists a significant absence from last year's roster in RB Charles Coleman who scored 12 TDs including a 66 yard run in the championship game.

Charles graduated and has moved on to the next phase of his life.  I expect Sean Allen and Donovan McNeal (2024 CCIW First-Year Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year) to lead the running back room.

Wasn't sure as he was listed as a junior last year. Agree Allen #1 this year with McNeal the likely #2.

Excited to see #11 in a Cardinal uniform. Perhaps he can coax his younger brother into transferring from Minnesota. Their dad was a WR at NCC and an AA track guy.

There's also a transfer from Winona State.  No pressure, but the last WR that transferred from there did pretty well in Naperville.

Lastly, if the QB conversation has turned away from Lavery completely, I wouldn't mind if he took that 6'5" frame of his and did his best Peter Sorinson impression this fall.

Gibson hasn't been at North Park since the 2023-24 school year. In two years as a Viking WR off the bench he caught 21 passes for 267 yards and a touchdown.

Congrats to NPU's Jereme Ombogo and Ben Butler for being named to the D3football.com Team of the Week.

Dang. Although I did also think 16 was high based on what Linfield lost, not only in terms of student-athletes but losing Brett Elliott as offensive coordinator.
