Foss,

I see your reasoning, but my point is that it's the D-3 games in which they don't have much room for error. You are still way too focused on the overall record. I'm telling you that the regional D-3 record is much, much more important. (See Willamette's 7-3 record last year which was 'intrepreted' as 5-1. Wins over WOU and SOU didn't help 'em and losses to EOU and UMHB didn't hurt 'em.)

A win or loss this weekend does very little in terms of Whitworth's playoff possibilities. In all likelihood, they must win four straight after playing Linfield. If they 'drop one more' as you suggest, I'd say they are in trouble whether they win this weekend or not.

Foss

d-train, I'm aware that the D-3 games are more important. With only 8 total games on the slate, I feel this non-d3 game is a bit more important than it normally would be.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

...so Linfield plays only 6 DIII contests. Wow! I wonder what the minimum is to be eligable for the playoffs? I could use more football, I'm getting antsy. Good thing we don't have another bye this week  :'(

Pat Coleman

I believe you have to play half of your schedule against regional foes. Linfield should be fine.

Re:  Your statement about the "Johnnie's 4 Convincing Wins"

Since when is beating Wisc. Eau Claire by 7 points after having 3 of your punts blocked and 2 returned for touchdowns, considered convincing?

Nowhere did you ever see a post about Linfield beating MHBU in the Stagg Bowl last year a convincing victory.  It could have gone either way and we happened to win that day.

You mention, SJU being ranked 14th in the nation in total
offense year to date.  Is that sufficient to have us trembling in fear that the Johnnies may be coming to town?

Wouldn't you be better off focusing on the Johnnies winning the MIAC rather than trying to create in your mind some case for their  being a threat to the Widcats this year?

Left to your own devices could we expect you to create some scenario as to how St. Johns will play in the Rose Bowl and lay waste to USC?

How about taking a teaspoon of reality before making your next post?

Isn't it amazing how when you set yourself up as a target you so often get shot at?

The Johnnies have a ways to go before they can even think of challenging Linfield.

The tailgate supplies are being taken care of, the jersey is being pressed, and the car-flags are being hung.

Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

"The Office" is a GREAT show and the first two epeisodes have been hilarious. I had to re-watch the performance of "Ya down with the dundies??"

It is family weekend which, with the inclusion of a good amount of Lutes, should mean another overflow crowd. I have gotten so used to my solitary listening to of the games that I tend to just wander the sidelines by myself now.

I am eager to see how the Lutes match-up speed wise, and how they hit. The last few years they have been closer than most other teams in regards to speed, and it sounds like they are continuing their tradition of having good LB's.

I am ready for some points, the last time I saw the 'cats play in person they only put up 28. They did win the national title though....
