Hopefully that changes this year but I would be somewhat surprised if we win by double digits

Can't figure this Tufts program out---great recruiting venue, superb academic rankings, great location, university post grad program, huge enrollment....... but Coach Civetti seldom gets a sniff of the NESCAC Football title. Tufts is dominant in a number of other sports .....why the middling results in football...

Nescacguymaine

Have a weird feeling we may see an upset in Hartford.

nescac1

By upset do you mean, Bowdoin stays within 30?  Because in that case, still no.

Would like to see the Ephs go back to pounding the ball. Fabiano, Bott, Clark and Weiler just let the O Line win this game.

nescac1

They seem to have listened Brady.  Not Weiler's day at all, and Fabiano has been superhuman in his first game back from injury.

Wow, Amherst! I see they had a 97 yard TD???

nescac1

I owe Nescacguymaine an apology, Bowdoin really hung tough!  Crazy day in NESCAC.  All of sudden the league feels a lot more open as Amherst just has a knack for pulling games out (kinda like Wesleyan last year) in the last few minutes.

Really, really tough loss for the Ephs as the Tufts kicker nails a clutch pretty long FG to win it.  The Williams D was air-tight in the first half, but in the second just could not get off the field on 3rd and 4th downs as Tufts made clutch play after clutch play.  It was all Shapiro, Rios (what a day for him), and Nate Johnson, basically.  Drew Weiler had his first adversity as a QB, tough day for him including one really awful interception that led to the first Tufts TD, there were a few plays I would have liked to see him tuck and run rather than try to force a pass.  Shapiro and Fabiano were back and looking VERY fresh for Tufts and Williams, and they sure looked like the two best tailbacks in NESCAC.  Fabiano in particular was unstoppable, what a day, but it wasn't enough given the Ephs' struggles in the passing game and inability to stop Tufts in the fourth quarter.

Very proud of my Polars for really hanging with the Bantams on the road and holding Trinity to just 10 points. The Bears' defense continues to impress. The passing game was better today but the ground game continues its struggles.

Wesleyan snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory today - or vice versa - when it could not punch it in on the one-yard line on fourth down in the fourth quarter.  An Amherst defense that had been stout all day turned the ball over to its offense, which had not done much all game.  Two plays later a 97 yard touchdown down the Wesleyan sideline and it was a game again.  A beautiful end zone corner touchdown with 22 seconds left changed the trajectory of two seasons.  Seemed like Wes

Typing problem.   Seemed like Wes had complete control of this game - it did - until Amherst showed some nice resilience and comeback ability.   Pretty sure Wes has more talent but kudos to the Jeffs for flipping a switch.

Once again, I think Amherst is still yet to play their best football.

Amherst does not have personnel that can match Wesleyan (or Trinity) yet they pulled off another huge win today against the Wesleyan arsenal of talent. They always mange to pull off wins like this. Once again I will attribute their success to the best HCOF in the conference year in and year out-- EJ Mills. I gotta take my hat off to him once again. I can only look at the boxscore at this point. It looks like the Mammoths outplayed a Wes team I thought was close to perfect.
Mills finds a way to win big games while the Wes publicity syndicate sometimes has a tendency to look ahead to that "final game against Trinity". Heartbreaking loss for the Cards, I was really pulling for them to get a playoff berth.  This loss makes their path a little more difficult, however, if they can beat Trinity in "that final game" I think they will be  in good shape based on my limited knowledge of the D3 playoff process and criteria.
I think Trinity will snap out of todays slumber and pound the Mammoths next week unless EJ schools Devanney the way he out schemed Dice Baby today, don't think so. Don't think Mills can pull off another coup next week against the Bantams.
I think we are looking at an undefeated Trinity club against a dangerous but unpredictable Wesleyan team in Hartford in the final game.
Lets hope we have 2 NESCAC teams in the playoffs.

Former CAC Coach

That will have to wait a week, Lumbercat....Mammoths head to Ellis Ocal to take on Tufts next Saturday....Trinity comes to Pratt field after that.

Nice feeling to beat Wes again.

Interesting that of the 5 prediction losses that NESCACMAN has, 3 are due to Amherst wins and 2 for Tufts
