Just want to note a game time discrepancy for anyone who might go to d3hoops.com to tune into the RMC vs Eastern game that takes place tomorrow night at the Gettysburg Tip-Off Tournament. D3hoops.com shows the game time as 6:00 p.m., but both the Gettysburg and RMC websites show it as 8:00 p.m., with the Gettysburg vs Wilson game having the 6:00 p.m. tip off time.

Gordon must have been watching.  He went in and corrected it last night.  I just moved the Wilson-Gburg game to 6 just now.  We should be correct.

It's pretty much impossible to go double check changes after we put all the schedules in in September and October.  Glad you've given us the correction here.

BIG games tonite! HSC travels to DA BEACH and plays #7 UW-La Crosse and VWU plays Keene St. Winners play tomorrow night I presume. #2 RMC travels to Gettysburg for their kickoff classic to play Eastern..... Winner plays the Gettysburg-Wilson winner. The Jackets then travel to NNews to play #9 CNU in a tough environment of the Freeman Center. We usually bring a lot of fans- especially those from here in Hampton Roads, but its nowhere near the advantage we have in Crenshaw Gym! Freeman Center can get really rowdy also, and its a bigger building with more seats than we have! This is ALWAYS a HUGE tough game for us- then we return to Crenshaw the following Saturday to play Yeshiva on the night of the RMC-HSC Football game that should decide the ODAC title in Football and the NCAA bid! Crenshaw should be ROCKING then also!

More ODAC teams are facing off against Top 25 opponents tonight.  Lynchburg vs Catholic (neutral court) and Guilford at Mary Wash are also worth noting.  Guilford is an almost complete rebuild except for Gabe Proctor, so we get to see how that is going.

I'm so interested in this game.  I was at the matchup last year in Greensboro.  UMW had such a young, athletic team and Guilford was all about slopping it up.  Now Guilford is going to want to run and UMW is replacing their graduated PG.  Absolutely no one knows what this will look like!

Hadn't looked at the ODAC website nor the schedule on here but you're right these are big too!

Just noticed another start time discrepancy. D3hoops.com website says UW-Lacrosse vs H-SC, which takes place at the VWU tournament, starts at 6:00 p.m., but VWU website has it at 7:00 p.m. Since the first game, Keene State vs VWU tips at 5:00 p.m. I'm pretty sure the 7 p.m. start is correct for UWL vs H-SC.

Got it.  That one was very likely someone from Wisconsin forgetting to account for the time zone.

VWU beat Keene St 87 - 84 in the early game.

HSC leads LaCrosse 34 - 26 at half.

HSC has played 10 players so far.  Fernald, Bizzelle, White, Williams, Lynch, Britt, Cannon, Stickney, Moye, and Radcliffe.

HSC and LaCrosse in OT.

HSC loses on a put back off a missed 3 pointer as time expires in OT.

Sam Grieger, UW-Lacrosse preseason All American, certainly lived up to his billing.  He was fantastic tonight.  Disappointing loss, but so many good takeaways from it.  The Tigers started Fernald and 4 sophomores: Stickney, Lynch, Moye and Bizzelle and they all had good games.  Moye can be a big time scorer.  I'm not sure what John Campbell's situation is.  He did not play. He was a starter for the last quarter or so of last season.  I suspect he is dinged up.  Also, Alex Cannon played more than Fernald - that was real surprising.  The reports that Alex improved are accurate.  This game should certainly help his confidence.  Considering that the Tigers are in a learning stage, I like their defense and rebounding.  Offensively, they can strike very fast with long outlet passes, and the half court offense looked reasonably good.

VWU announcers: please take some time to learn the pronunciation of player names.

ODAC teams were 3-4 last night. Three of the losses were to pre-season Top 25 teams. #17 H-SC lost by two points in OT on a tip in at the buzzer to #7 UW-LaCrosse at the VWU tournament. Guilford lost by four at #15 Mary Washington. Lynchburg lost by 19 at home to #22 Catholic. Averett lost by six at home to St. Mary's of Maryland.

Winners were: VWU at home over Keene State by three; Shenandoah by nine at home over Mary Baldwin; RMC by 26 on a neutral court over Eastern.

RMC's 97-71 win was convincing though not elegant. Eastern had a height advantage, but the Jackets outrebounded them 43-27. Of RMC's two big men, Joe Bachman exited with a leg injury after playing only two minutes. Sure hope it isn't too serious, though it appeared it could be. Liam Joyce only played 14 minutes. Freshman Brady Lam scored 16 points and appeared to have a knack for getting fouled, making 9 of 12 free throws. He's listed as 6'4", but doesn't look that tall. Same with freshman Theartis Battle. Jabril Robinson was steady as usual, scoring 19 and making 5 of 9 threes. It appears he's going to be more of a shooting guard this season, with Ollie Jones and Delani Hammonds ( who had a double-double  -- 10 points, 10 boards) handling the point. Malcolm Hodges was his usual energetic self and pulled down 11 rebounds.

ODAC teams bring the conference to .500 in the new season, going 4-3 today.

#14 VWU falls to #7 UW-LaCrosse 74-71. Averett loses by a lot at D1 High Point. EMU drops a close one, 72-64 to Mary Washington.

Lynchburg downs Notre Dame of MD 77-67. H-SC over Keene State 79-61. Bridgewater 76-70 over William Peace. RMC, not looking like the #2 team in the country, squeaks by Gettysburg 62-59. The Jackets were again giving up some size and Gettysburg actually looked like the better team. They blocked a total of 10 shots, though it seemed more like 20. Seven of the blocks were by #33. But, even with Joe Bachman on crutches, the Jackets out rebounded the Bullets 44-27, including an 18-3 edge in offensive boards. Of course, that can be a misleading stat since it's a reflection of rebounding multiple of your missed shots and still not being able to get a hoop on the new possession. But, the Jackets played "scrappy, crappy" and found a way to win.

H-SC folks are quite pleased with the look of the Tigers after 2 games. The fast attack offense is a pleasure to watch.  The emergence of Santana Lynch as a strong offensive presence and Alex Cannon's ability to provide quality big man minutes are bonuses.

A troubling issue from  Friday night's game against UW-Lacrosse: the scorers failed to register a Tiger basket in the second half.  Maybe that would have been enough to give H-SC the win, maybe not.  I don't know why the referees didn't step in after Coach Kimbrough pointed it out and pleaded for their review.  I sure hope it doesn't come into play if the Tigers need NPI points late in the season.  More vociferous fans of the Tigers firmly believe them to be 2-0.

I caught the last few minutes of the R-MC v Gettysburg game.  With the Jackets down by 2 with less than 1:30 to go, Jabril Robinson came up big.  First, he hit a 3 for a one point lead.  Next possession he hit a tough jumper to re-establish that lead - that was the game winner, a couple free throws provided the final margin.  Big time plays by a big time player.
