If Amherst only has one player in the top 14 players in the league this year yet is seeded fourth in the playoffs, doesn't that point to Sears as the coach of the year?

Hard to believe I am typing this but he must be doing something right with so little top notch NESCAC talent ...

You make a great point! And not just because it makes my Choice for Coach of the year more convincing.lol

I am still working on all league but man it is gonna be tough. There are a lot of second team guys that are worthy and balancing team success and stats is hard this year. Doesn't quite seem like you can justify having 3 guys from one team to me, maybe Lazarre for Trinity but I don't know if I can have a guy who averaged 9.2 points per game on the 3 seed make an all league team. He would have to be Michael Cooper defensively and I don't think he quite got there.

Amherst is another tricky one - they have all league talent but the offense is still pretty anemic so the numbers don't pop out. It reminds me of the Cosgrove years from like 2016-2022 ish. I don't know who I'm gonna pick but they need someone.

A lot of deserving players are going to get left out but I hope the coaches lean towards winning players and not stats on less successful teams. Pouye, Civello, that range of guy, probably second teamers with how strong the top 3 teams are. But who knows! The coaches are always good for a surprise or five

Amherst is especially tough because they are so balanced - the top four guys all average between 10 and 10.5 ppg which is kind of crazy, and their top scorer is the sixth man.  Garraud, Chin, Hammond and Neville all have legit cases for second-team all league, but none are consistent enough to be a total lock.  I suspect one (probably Chin for his all-around play) make it and then Neville gets ROTY, which gives them two guys represented.  But as a senior, Hammond might sneak on as well.

With a 14 man team, I feel like the last few guys on the second team are always gonna be a bit of a stretch ... with ten, someone really good was always excluded.

Looking forward to watching ex Cardinal alum Shane Regan play live in Boston on Friday night. Have been following UChicago's season a little bit and he continues to dominate Division III. Interested to see how far that team goes

Agree on your thoughts on Lazarre. I originally had him 2nd team, but when I saw how he shut down Cuevas, he did kind of play like Michael Cooper and to me there just wasn't a clear-cut 7th person. Pouye and Civello, just didn't think they belonged.
I know some will say Trinity is the 3rd seed, and how can you give them 3 on the first team, but as stated above there was no clear-cut 7th player for the first team, and I would still take their starting 5 over anyone else in the and it's not even close. They lost 2 close games on the road. Had 4 games all year that they didn't win by 10 points or more.
Still would prefer they league went back to 2 teams of 5 or 3 teams of 5, the 2 teams of 7, makes zero sense.

Even 1st and 2nd teams with 5 each, plus an Honorable mention listing of 7 would make more sense.

I'm also perplexed by the 7 player all conference teams. Seems to have started during the 23-24 season.

Wondering when the five years of eligibility started - regarding Regan and others. Could he have played another year at Wesleyan - they have a graduate program.

Regan actually had a year where he was hurt, so not really 5 years for him. Yes he could have played as a grad at Wesleyan.

He's talked about it a couple times.  They didn't really have any programs he was interested in.

I haven't seen anyone mention this but Middlebury's Jaden Bobbett is on LSU's roster.

Ziggy or others:

Does the success of an opponent you beat impact a team's NPI ranking?

For instance, Babson beat Tufts. If Babson loses Tuesday in the first round of the NEWMAC tournament and Tufts wins the NESCAC, will those additional wins for Tufts be a benefit to Babson?

He's even played in a few games (mop-up duty)—recorded a rebound and an assist against Arkansas.

Good for Jaden. Indiana and Big Ten last year, LSU and SEC this year.

Quite a collegiate experience!

Yes.  NPI continues to change with results, so the NPI points you get for the win will go up or down depending on that opponent's results.

The big bummer is beating a great team in November who subsequently suffers a lot of injuries and thus losses.  No bonus points for beating a bad team when they were good!
