Have no idea what Cosgrove is doing. Wrong players playing and have not once looked inside the entire first half

nescac1

I do recall Okorougo hurting his ankle about midway through the second half v Wesleyan.  He played through it but was hobbling a bit.

Nescac not exactly lighting it up today.  Watched a bit of Amherst and WPI had no prayer ... Amherst missed some wide open shots but their guards (especially Neville and Chin) were driving at will and they locked WPI down, very few clean looks, too long and athletic across the lineup.

I smell huge upset trinity going to lose.

Stickthe3

They look AWFUL.  Cannot make a shot. All out of sorts.

D3BBALL

Trinity 1 pass and shoot every time down 10 10 minutes left

D3BBALL

Doesn't help that their coach is panicking

Quote from: SpringSt7 on Yesterday at 07:02:31 PMBates is on the bus ride home but former Bates AC Quinn Newton is about to pick up a HUGE win in the same gym with his Maine Farmington team against Montclair St. D3Datacast had them losing by 14.

The whole Bates Basketball program was rooting for Quinn Newtons's Farmington team despite the Bobcat heartbreaker  today. It says a lot about the draw of the pairings which is the way tournament play goes. Bates drew the best 3 point shooter in the damn country and he was unconscious. I tip my hat to him. 22 feet fall aways with a 6'7" in your face.....how do you beat that.

Furbush bleeds Garnet but he does some unconventional things in terms of who sits and who plays in certain situations. Wish he would have involved Pouye more in the offense earlier in the game and if you lose with that approach so be it.  When he had the Delpeche twins during the last tourney appearance he seemed befuddled as to how to get more out of his top players. Can't use premier players as decoys.

I try to refrain from complaining about officiating relative to the outcome of any game in any sport but that was a tough one today.....can't ever remember a ref blowing a whistle on a very marginal call like that at the expiration of regulation time. The only way a call like that is made in that scenario is if the kid was on a fast break and got hit from behind or somebody got totally mugged.

Good luck to the other NESCAC teams.

Trinity going to sneak a win out!!

Pretty brutal half court offense by Trinity for sure.  Missed Jarrel's creation. Fortunately for them Vetter has ice in his veins never shrinks from the moment.  Intense D and hustle from Ayles and Davis turned it around.  Rest of the squad had a rough game for sure.

Lovelace on keuka can really ball.

Agree hundred percent what you said, but Cosgrove's gotta learn not to panicK. Trinity huge height advantage didn't even try once all day long to get it down low.

I recall a first round Williams game in Mike Maker's era where we beat Husson in OT. This was basically a 1-16 matchup. We then went to the final 4. Sometimes funny things happen in playoff games. It rarely has anything to do with the coach panicking!

If Cosgrove panics like he did last year when they won the whole damn thing I think they will be ok.

The Trinity offense was really bad and really uncomposed for a while. It's one thing to press and rush but it was almost like they were going out of their way to take quick shots without passing. Good for Ayles he stepped up in a big way but it was the Vetter show down the stretch like it always is. I keep waiting for Tristan Davis to run into a 17 point 15 rebound game but maybe that just isn't the cards.

Those 3 were huge the last 10 minutes

I was sitting right next to the official observer.  We were talking most of the game.  Overall the refs did a great job.  That last one was just unfortunate.  In most situations you can let a tap like that go and head to OT, but the kid fell out of bounds before the buzzer, you have to call one thing or the other.

He called for the review so fast, you could tell genuinely hoping the buzzer went before his whistle.  Big props to Zakheim for hitting the shot, though.  Tough situation.

Tremendous game all around.  Bates did really well to come back and be right in it.
