Quote from: hazzben on September 11, 2025, 12:19:00 PMInteresting wrinkle for the Bethel vs UNWSP matchup Saturday night. Their starting RB and UMAC offensive lineman of the year both visited Bethel during Spring ball to explore transferring. RB room is very deep for Bethel right now, with a strong freshman class incoming. He was told he'd likely be in a backup role, looks like he caught on at a smaller D1 school out east. Lineman took the plunge and transferred over.

So Bethel brings back 4 starters on the OLine and adds the UMAC's top lineman. I feel really good about where the offense will be with Drews, Geebli, and Oline. Need WR's to emerge, huge shoes to fill for Niewald and Kidder.

And lots of young guys to step up on D, with Devon Williams at boundary safety (love getting his physicality more in the middle of the field) and a D2 transfer at corner. Cautiously optimistic on D. There were some guys that would have been playing a ton of snaps in any other year, but were behind guys like DeWall, Jung, and co. Looking forward to seeing who emerges from this group.

Can't wait to see them on the field. Will be there, couldn't miss the first night game. Although one thinks that NW might not be the best gauge, especially if we stole their best Oline lol.

Quote from: sjujohnnie on September 11, 2025, 01:12:13 PMAs a Johnnie, your outlook has me concerned. I want to see St John's challenged so that they're battle tested if they're able to make it to the postseason, but don't need the balance of power in the MIAC to shift to Arden Hills!

I think our D has a lot to prove in that game. Both teams have a lot of talent waiting in the wings and talented guys returning. There was some thought to making this a night game. Atmosphere would have been really fun for that IMO. But a day of libations leading up to kickoff probably wasn't necessary to get people riled up more than they would be anyway!

@Mister36: I think the eagles are a barometer only in a negative sense. If Bethel loses or its close in the 4th quarter we've got a lot to figure out. A wide BU margin of victory doesn't tell either team much.

I hope to be able to get to the BU/UNWSP game, though I may be tardy. If all goes as planned, I will end the day having achieved my NAR L3 Certification, which is the highest a person can get. I'll be up on the sod farms in North Branch most of the day getting in two flights, a shake down flight to @9000 feet, and then the certification attempt going to @11000 feet. I'll let everyone here know how it goes.

sorry guys, been a bit too busy these past couple weeks. Anyone is of course free to run it. Hoping my eagles can make the first Bethel night game a fun one.

I don't have the time to run it, and it makes me realize how much time you've put into this over the years. Appreciate it AO

The Johnnie media dept has started the year kicking goals from outside the 50.  This "inside the team" type content is fantastic.

Man, I'm hyped now for the game this weekend.

I had been anxiously awaiting the release of the game notes and was happy to see them released yesterday. 35 pages of glorious statistical content and graphics on Johnnie football. Worth taking a look whether someone's a Johnnie or not.

What is the status of games being streamed and cost? Obviously SJU will overcharge, but are other miac teams charging this year?

As far as I know the MIAC Sports network is still hosting everything else no charge.

Also for anyone attending Bethel game tomorrow, I thought I saw something about needing to order tickets online (which you cna do here https://sportsthread.com/user/buy-tickets/464/10966/ ), but the bethel athletics page says you can do cash at the gate, so not sure what it is.

I just logged into the MIAC network site and it wants $75 to Hudl for access to 6 SJU home games.

Yes, to clarify what I meant was everything besides SJU home games seems to still be accessible.

I hope sju has a single game option for streaming.

The Hawks demolished the Crows over in Adelaide, taking a leaf out of duffman's Road Warrior handbook.  They put on a master class for high-pressure, every-player-contributing in a complete game effort football.

Now we're about to enjoy another chapter in the greatest rivalry in Australian sport when the Hawks play Geelong at the MCG on Friday night in the Preliminary Final, the winner earning a run in the Grand Final.  The whole Oz family will be going and we can't wait (a huge benefit of being a Melbourne Cricket Club member - or we'll be trying.  I'll hit that Ticketek website the second seats in the Member's go on sale).
