I'm going to take a page out of bw's book, and most of the UWW posters, and claim that the other team's problems were the direct result of the superior play of my team. I guess that's what they believe, and I'm sticking with that.

Also, and this may be a left handed compliment for my beloved Johnnies, but when was the last time we beat a ranked foe? Say what you will about rankings in general, but at least this happened with 0nly one (two?) games left on the schedule.

I don't recall ever making that claim.  ???

On another note, SJU kicker Jimmie Mattson has never missed a field goal in his Johnnie career. 15-for-15. And some of those are 40-plus yarders, and at least one from 50-plus. He's become a real nice weapon, especially for a team that historically could never find a kicker

The kid has the approach of Kevin Butler of the '85 Bears- he is tough and probably lifts on a regular basis (more-so)  than some of the O-linemen. Changing the mindset to the approach of a game plan and using him as a weapon instead of an afterthought which may be something new in 2012.

DIII.com top 25 rankings are out....
St. Olof drops out of the top 25...Bethel moves from 23 to 22.
Any chance that Bethel can sneak into the playoffs?

It would be pretty tough with 2 losses and one of those to a team that just lost to a 4 loss team.
It appears the Tomcats will be the lone MIAC representative this year. :o

On another note, I think the Cobbers can go down to Northfield next week and come out with a victory based their style of offense.
Olaf appeared to be perplexed by the SJU option attack.
Stop Clark and the Cobbers have a very favorable chance of winning.

You just happened to be standing close.  ;)I know that the underlying premise is true. Mea culpa.

Looking at the total points in the rankings, it looks like someone bumped UST up to 2nd in their polls over Mount Union this week.

Wonder if anyone heard the end of the Johnnie game on the Oles' station, KDHL? I can imagine what their radio guy, the legendary Mike Morrissey, sounded like. He can even outhomer Mark. He couldn't have been real pleased.

BTW, talked to St. Olaf SID Mike Ludwig tonight and sounds like Mike Morrissey isn't doing the best health-wise, so please keep him in your thoughts.

A belated Go Johnnies!  I was glued to my phone from my family Thanksgiving on Saturday and couldn't believe the comeback!  And Steve Johnson rushing for 196 yards...just awesome.

A tradition unrivaled...

218Tommie

Another good win for the Tommies this weekend. I was looking at some weather forecasts, and it looks like Duff finally has something good to look forward to during playoffs...a little ice fishing.

faunch

So what actually happened on the Ole's muffed punt in the 4th quarter.  From where I was sitting it looked like the Johnnies attempted to down the ball first.  I actually thought one of our guys touched the ball first.  Did the Ole kid then try to pick it up because he thought that an SJU player had already touched it?

Also...on the last play of the game did the pass, that was thrown about 60 yards in the air, actually go through the arms of on Old in the end zone?  It looked that way to me but I was sitting on the hill at the other end of the field.

It was utterly terrifying on the radio, with the Augsburg flashbacks as the ball hung in the air. Can only imagine what it was like in person. Wonder if a team has ever lost twice in a season on Hail Mary plays at the gun (although the Augsburg TD was pretty much just a regular pass. Somehow). Probably, but glad SJU didn't join the surely short list.

USTBench

If UST makes it out of the West Regional Final it appears as though  I will be stuck in Brainerd with fiancee lady's family for what traditionally seems to be, a football free early Christmas/late Thanksgiving (December 10).

A few questions:

1) Is it rude to have my earphones in and my phone tuned to WCCO from 1pm to 4pm, should UST be fortunate enough to play that day?
2) If I am completely engaged in whatever uninteresting things these people have to say for those 3 hours, does that buy me enough karma to go to the Stagg Bowl, should UST pull off the impossible and break up the UWW/Mt. Union love fest?

Yes, I know this is putting the cart before the horse, but I feel I should be prepared just in case.
