Is it sad that the wife and I are already excited to make our first visit to In-n-Out Burger?
Duff- always remember to buy a T-shirt!
Order like this so you don't sound like a In-N-Out virgin:
"Yea, I'll take a:
*Double Double animal style
*Fries
*Chocolate shake
*Large T-shirt
that'll be to eat here please."

I was introduced to In-N-Out about 15 years ago and the burgers kind of remind me of Lion's Tap in Eden Prairie- every time I visit a city that has an In-N-Out I try to get by to add to my T-shirt collection. We stopped by Fisherman's Wharf last spring when we visited the t-merton family at the City on the Bay
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

One question: Why didn't anyone ask Fasching about letting the rarely seen alumni video stream out for wider consumption?  It's a mythical beast, rumoured to have VOJ sound tracks, instant replays and multiple camera angles.

I'd pay.

NOOOOOooooooooo!!!!  This is one step too far!

Idaho inmates: The beer made us do it

Keith Allen Brown shot a man to death in Priest Lake five years ago, leading to a 15-year prison sentence. But the 52-year-old says his problems started long before that, when he was just a boy and tasted alcohol for the first time.

Brown and four other inmates at Idaho's Kuna facility are suing major beer companies, blaming their crimes on alcoholism and claiming that the companies are responsible because they don't warn consumers that their products are addictive.

I'm guessing it's because we haven't beat the SJU webcast drum in a while.
Now is a good time to renew it.

I'll second that motion and pledge to pay for a subscription for streaming webcasts of games.
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

I suppose that is better than no stream, but I think a majority of schools have FREE streaming by now.  Probably helps recruiting (of football players and simply students).

Perhaps it is time for SJU to join the 21st century! 8-)

Most schools couldn't hope to sell a stream.  ;)

True! ;D

But not necessarily relevant, if they refuse to EVEN try to sell a stream.

(You'd be surprised what really bad teams try to sell their stream.  And what really good teams stream for free.)

I just listened to Fasching's press conference on the SJU youtube channel.  This is my impression: a little bit of a tweak, a lot more money.  The context of his (two?) comments on Gagliardi running the program on a shoestring lead me to believe that he will not be doing the same.

And from what I learned in the conference, I reckon Grant pulled out knowing he wouldn't get it, not that he rejected an offer.  I think that Fasching put the most compelling case forward to the committee: Gagliardi 2.0.  I suspect that Grant was a tactical withdrawal.  He probably sensed which way the wind was blowing.

I never even met the guy so I don't know anything about him, but Duff likes him a lot and that goes a long way for me.  Also, he recruited the great teams of the early 00's and that goes a long was as well.  I suspect he will add a lot of focus and energy to the program.  I know recruiting is a big deal, but a bigger deal (in my humble and largely ignorant opinion) is discipline.  Your superstars win championships, your regular guys playing really well win you seasons.  It seems to me that the real problem of the last few years has been people breaking down on the discipline.

Dunno, but I'm pretty happy with the choice.  I'm most happy because I think he will be greatly misunderestimated, particularly by the Tommies, but also by some Johnnies, and that will lead to pleasant surprises.

Well stated Oz.

I'll use this as my final analysis on Mike Grant's quest to become the Johnnie headman.

I believe you've adroitly culled all available news sources and your assessment is accurate.

Many Johnnies are scratching their heads in the days following Gary's appoinment as Johnnie head coach however it's my opinion SJU is in good hands.  If you didn't get a chance to hear Gary's interview with Reusse this past Monday at 11:30am it's worth digging around in the ESPN1500 archives to check out.

The reasons to attend SJU are as solid as ever and with an infusion of enthusiasm and confidence along with a slightly adjusted staff the Johnnies are on their way back to competitiveness.

There was an article in the Trib last week about all the SJU alums that are upset that Grant is not the coach at SJU.  I read the 60+ comments yesterday to kill a little down time.  There are some interesting views out there.

I look at it like this.  Mike may be a fine coach (I've only met the guy once), but his college coaching experience is what, 2 years in the '80s?  There is no guarantee that he could parlay his high school success to the college level.

Gary brings high school and lots of college success to the table.  Sure, SJU has fallen off a bit in recent years, but I find it hard to believe that that can be blamed on Gary.  He did his job as directed by John.  I trust that he'll make the changes necessary to compete at the national level again soon.  I exchanged e-mails with him last week, and I have every confidence that he'll make a great coach for SJU.

I've been trying to find that interview but have had no luck.  I was unable to listen as I was drowning minnows in the fish house.  They've got his Dec. 28th and Jan. 2nd but not the 31st.   Maybe a few requests to AM 1500 and Reusse to get it posted might do the trick.  There's a link on the page to email the show.  I figure if a handful of us request they will post it.

I have reliable information that SJU is working to get all home basketball games streamed for the remainder of the season.  To me that's a positive sign that football will be available in the fall.  Now let's hope the SJU hoops teams can turn things around...I'm told they've installed a new offense and it's been challenging so far.  When I attend SJU in the late 80's they tried the Loyola Marymount offense for a season and it was a disaster....ok...enough hoops as this is a football forum.

Seriously?  Provided I have internet access, I can live video stream (for my HS team) with my sub-$400 laptop and a $200 HD camcorder -- and had it set up for the first time within an hour. It'll take me 2 minutes to set it up thereafter.  It isn't rocket science.

Apologies in advance however here's another MIAC basketball story.  This one is not good news for the Pipers.  It seems one of their players punched a young woman at a hotel room in Spokane, Washington.  He has been removed from the roster on the team website.
