The club voted unanimously to reject U$T's offer.
And stated that T&C is not for sale.

No ambiguity there whatsoever. So, now, to ROR's point, this will be something that UST can take back to the City of St. Paul to try to push through another plan--was it the Ford plant redevelopment?

It's the CP railyard portion of Ford plant area. Setting aside my bias against the Tommie$ (if that's even possible)...I don't want it there.
The site is a little over 1 mile from my house (3 minute drive). The Bridges development is supposed to have over 10,000 new residents (rent control may delay that).

What Faunch said.  I'm 6 minutes away from the Canadian Pacific railyard.  I drive right by there frequently on my way to Highland Village.  The Bridges is already going to create a traffic nightmare.*  Don't need to bring in more cars.

* Assuming St. Paul fixes rent control.  The law as passed last fall has frozen almost all apartment development in St. Paul.  Very poorly designed.  And I'm a renter.

A few weeks back I tuned into a zoom meeting sponsored by the Highland District Council. They invited the following from U$T to speak about the interest in the CP Railyard property:
-Amy McDonough: Chief of Staff
-Amy Gage: Dir of Neighborhood and Community Relations
-Mark Vangsgard: VP and Chief Financial Officer
-Phil Esten: VP / Dir of Athletics.

The U$T reps noted that there were a few other properties (didn't specify locations) they were interested in pursuing with a strong desire to be close to campus. AD Esten shared these as the top priorities:
-need to be competitive...physical resources
-20 year relationship w/ STA and ice arena
-space for D1 ice facility
-3,500-5,000 seat range
-fan experience
-amenities for fans and student athletes
-desires to be close to campus
-other facilities needed?? Space for softball and baseball...maybe provide some space for Highland Little League (IMO this is total BS...they have no interest in partnering with the local youth baseball and softball programs).

My curiosity is now with what are the other potential locations? It's no secret that U$T is landlocked. Where else could they be looking? Is it possible there's property in the Midway area? Could/would they buy up a few blocks north of I-94, east of 280, south of Energy Park Drive and west of Prior Ave?

There's also open land on each side of the St. Thomas Academy hockey arena. Maybe U$T could partner to upgrade the STA facility?

I've also heard the idea thrown around that U$T might buy St. Kate's. They already gutted the school by going coed and now have started a nursing program. It would be ironic for U$T to tear down O'Shaugnessy Auditorium and Our Lady of Victoria Chapel to build a hockey arena. Neighbors were pissed a few years ago when St. Kate's cut down some trees for a parking lot...can't imagine they'e be happy with a 5,000 seat arena in the middle of the neighborhood!

UST could always look to the fairgrounds to upgrade those facilities or use existing facilities shared by other groups.  I think UST is looking for a way to avoid sharing facilities.

HA!  I just for the first time realised that Chevy put the doctor in a choke hold when telling everyone to break it up.  Funny movie.  May have to watch this weekend.

I've often wondered how St. Kate's has survived as long as it has. UST went co-ed in 1977. Compare that to St. Mary's and the College of St. Theresa in Winona. St. Mary's went co-ed in 1969. Twenty years later, St. Theresa's closed.

I mentioned to Mrs. Duff the other day that U$T made an unsolicited offer on a local country club, and her immediate repsonse was, "Was it Bushwood?"  ;D

I've held her in the highest regard ever since you mentioned her shotgunning ability many years ago.

Congratulations to the SJU Track & Field team on winning the 2022 MIAC Indoor Championship!

First indoor title for SJU (and first indoor title to be won by a school other than the one located at the corner of Cretin and Summit).

In like manner, BU won its first Outdoor Track and Field MIAC Championship this past week as well. Congrats all around!

Johnnies with a huge last-second win over Augsburg on Saturday night. The Johnnies broke a 2-2 tie on a goal by Auggie Moore with 0.1 seconds left in the game to give the Johnnies the win.

Congrats on that win a few days late! I have been too busy to keep up with this board but if MIAC hockey is spoken here, I will check in more often. Auggies had a great OT win last night to advance to the semifinal against Bethel.

I picked up the action as the overtime period started. I thought Gustavus had some excellent chances on the power-play early in the overtime. Had to be terrifying for Auggie fans.
