As in - it might be cut this year still?

What, if anything, do we know about how the MIAC will look in 2025? I have not heard much since this past winter when there was a flurry of transfer activity.

My focus is always SJU, but I'm curious if there has been any noteworthy activity from across the conference.

All I know is that they played a spring "game" last weekend and are heading up north to scrimmage the Winnipeg Rifles on Saturday the 17th.

No information if the "game" will be live streamed.

Frank did a write up on the spring game.

He reported that the defense didn't give up any touchdowns in seven drives. I'll chalk that more up to a lot of new and moving parts on offense. Sounds like the old man Will Blakey has hung up the cleats and is helping on the coaching staff.

So all 9 MIAC teams would be scrambling to find a 10th game? That sounds very MIAC-like.

Apparently he's on paid administrative leave at Augsburg. Not sure the goal was ever to coach both teams as much as it was he had a window to ensure a landing spot at Osseo. I think he saw the writing on the wall in Minneapolis. But he did try to convince his DC to do the double duty gig initially. So maybe there was a part of him that thought double HC was possible, while at the same time he made sure he had a gig if things played out like he foresaw with his Alma Mater??

Timing sucks for Augsburg. Do you have time to hire the next guy or do you go with an interim for next season? I don't lose any sleep over Augsburg's rising or falling, but they are closer to becoming a Hamline than breaking into the top Tier.

IMO the MIAC has no need for more teams ranked in the bottom 25% of D3 Football. The league is better, and the top teams more battle hardened, when there is a healthy middle 50% of the league that can compete regionally and give the top teams a genuine push on a consistent basis.

I had not logged in for months, but I heard about this happening and thought, "I bet Hazzben has some insight on this." Sure enough, you do! It should be interesting, maybe the new AD has someone in mind for the job.

They wouldn't need to find a game, they'd all play each other.  SJU would play St. Olaf week 11, since those two aren't currently scheduled to play.  Carleton would play Concordia, etc.

So BU would end with St. Scholastica - that would be interesting, as BU hasn't played them since 2013 when they met in the Metrodome in the first week of the playoffs that year.

Correct, it would result in a true round robin and each team would pick up the 1 team they aren't currently scheduled to play. Sounds like it's not a done deal, but it does sound like dropping it is very much on the table for this season still. And given that it'd be a very simple shift to make, it something they could decide to do at almost any point this summer before fall camps open.

I 100% support this. Granted, it doesn't help the strength of schedule numbers for those hoping for an at-large bid, but I think the committee has indicated that SOS is not as important anymore. I would much rather go back to a true round robin schedule again.

Agreed and it doesn't make any sense for the #1 and #2 to beat up on each other or knock a conference team out of the playoffs a week before the NCAA playoffs begin.

Non-D3 football post follows: Just got back from this year's Oral Presentations and Safety Checks for the Upper Mid-West High-Powered Rocket Contest that will have the launches done tomorrow in North Branch, MN. There will be 19 teams launching tomorrow - yikes! The MIAC is well represented with Augsburg, Bethel, Concordia, Gustavus, and Macalester. Other notables mentioned here would be St. Thomas and Whitewater. Some of the bigger schools include NDSU, University of Iowa, Austin Peay, and three teams from the U of MN. It's gonna be a fun day launching tomorrow - could easily end up being over 50 or 60 flights.

Go Bethel!

I'm disappointed the Johnnies don't have a rocket team. I would have loved to be part of that.

Bethel named their new HC for men's b-ball. At first glance I like the fit/hire.

Shame on me - I didn't realize that WI had any D2 basketball programs...though it seems that they're the only one.
