Fairly late in the games, both the Titan men and women are up double-digits on Millikin.

I can't get video from either B'town (women) or Decatur (men); is it just me, or is that true for others?
Neither could I nor the audio feed from WJBC.  Live stats were working.  wonderful , we can not get it in Michigan but 70 can from Hong Kong  ???

Well I'm sure that Hong Kong has VASTLY better internet then Michigan (or at least most of the USA).
I'm laying the blame on the UM students that watched on the net rather than going to Crisler

Stretch Internet has been having troubles all over today, not just with IWU.

I had trouble too, but switched from Safari to Chrome before tip...Stretch was all good with Chrome.

Key win for the Titans to move to 18-5/11-3.  IWU is now 6-1 on the road in CCIW play.

On Saturday in Kenosha the Titans will play for a share of the program's 30th all-time CCIW title.  It will be a tough game.

With Wheaton's win over Carthage the CCIW Tournament Field is locked in: Illinois Wesleyan, Augustana, Wheaton, and North Central in some order.

Yes, important win for IWU at MU.  Now gotta revenge that early season loss to Carthage at the Shirk.  Key games upcoming, to get to 20 wins.

Thought I'd seen everything this season -- but now I know for sure -- Tyler Burdine drilling a trey!   Lovely.  :)

Keep it rolling Titans.

Yes, life is good and internet connections always strong in HKG.  We invest in IT infrastructure big time here, so communications usually go well.  Our former University President was the man who basically brought you the internet (not Al Gore, as claimed) as he, Prof. Charles Kao (Kao Kun) did all the early work on the transmission qualities of glass fiber, bringing you fiber optical cable, and, hence, in many ways, the internet.   He won the Nobel Prize in Physics for this early work -- done at Bell Labs in NJ, later founding chair/head of our information engineering department, then Vice-Chancellor (President) later on.  A very lovely man, brilliant and accessible, almost child-like.  I worked with him very closely here at CUHK when he was President.  Sadly, he now has Alzheimer's and doesn't even know why he won the Nobel Prize.

Wishing all my fellow chatsters a very happy and healthy Year of the Dog, starting tomorrow!   Kung Hei Fat Choi!  I hope all your hong bao (red packets) are generously filled with plenty of money!

The CCIW Standings only have Wesleyan, Augie, and Wheaton with * denoting a clinched Conference Tourney berth. You could very well be right and the website could just not be fully updated yet, but I thought that was interesting. Is it even mathematically possible for someone to make it over the Cards barring a brutal collapse from them?

Seems to me to be a done deal.

Illinois Wesleyan 11-3
Augustana 10-4
Wheaton 10-4
North Central 9-5
Carthage 7-7

If NCC and Carthage tie at 9-7, the first tie breaker is head-to-head...and NCC swept CC.

Carthage was eliminated tonight.

GoPerry

The Thunder, 17-6/10-4, have now won 4 in a row and need two more wins to remain in the Pool C discussion and even possibly host the conference tourney.  I doubt they'll be fooled by NCC's loss tonight and will expect a very tough game at King on Saturday.  They close out the regular season at Carroll and figure to be road 'dogs given how the Pios are really messing things up with their play right now.

Perhaps you are lucky not to live in Michigan. :P

Somehow I doubt that we'll be hearing Tim Allen's dulcet tones repeat that new slogan in the state's "Pure Michigan" ads.

I can think of numerous reasons that living in Michigan is wonderful. Internet connections is not among them. ::)

OT final from the airplane hangar:

Carroll 77
North Central 73

The Cards blew a 21-point second-half lead, with Carroll hitting a trey with six seconds left to send it into the extra session. Sorenson and Raridon fouled out in overtime.

One of the most shocking and disappointing NCC losses in recent memory. Ahead by 21 in the 2nd half, the Cardinals succumbed to Carroll's constant, all over the court, pressure. Carroll tied the game on a three pointer with 8 seconds left in regulation. NCC lost both Sorenson and Raridon to fouls in the OT. However, with the OT period score at CU 75, NCC 73, and 5 seconds left it looked like NCC would prevail before Blaise Meredith's 3 pointer went 3/4s of the way down before spinning out.
It didn't help that the Cardinals committed 17 turnovers, and missed 11 (of 22) FTs.

Paging AndOne. Paging AndOne. Oh my, Carroll on the stat sheet played NCC straight up with Carroll's only lead at :13 in OT.  I do not think Carroll goes back to Wisconsin with a W -  if Sorenson had lasted about another 60 seconds

Carroll doesn't go back behind the Cheddar Curtain if North Central were able to hit its free throws down the stretch.  Pollack and Raridon each missed one inside of three minutes, and Sorensen missed a pair with 17 ticks left and the Cardinals up three.

For whatever reason, the Sons of Warden have had difficulty putting away teams when they have the game well in-hand.  This is twice the Cardinals have had one of the conference's mid-tier teams snatch the W after a bad collapse.  As Gregory suggested earlier, they will need to figure this out quickly, as the slate doesn't get any easier in the next seven days.

With the data sheet out, here's the RRO records:

  • Wash U: 7-1
  • UW-Platteville: 3-2
  • Augie: 5-2
  • UW-Oshkosh: 4-2
  • UWSP: 4-5
  • IWU: 2-3
  • Wheaton: 4-3
  • UWRF: 2-5

NCC has an 0-4 mark, which I'm sure is a huge reason why they're out this week.

They'll pick up a RRO for next week with Wheaton now being ranked, and then will have one additional RRO decision coming out of Saturday's rematch.  Not that it will matter as the Carroll loss will not exactly help the Cardinals' case.
