Wow, the arena looks like it will be really nice.  I can't wait to go attend the Greatest Rivalry in College Basketball in January.

Civic Minded

Oh, man!  I hadn't even thought that far ahead yet! :o

Won't that be an amazing game?  Let's HOPE that the Knights are as generous in our first rivalry game at DeVos as they were in our last rivalry game at the Civic... ;D

As always,

HAHA.  It should be a great game.  Lets hope that now that Hope doesn't have to hide the measuring tapes before the game there will be less of a "home court advantage"

Nice article in the Sentinel today with pictures of the parquet flooring being put down, and a drawing of what the finished floor will look like.  Wow!  It's gonna be awesome! ::)

Cool... but, uh, there's a bunch more pictures on the actual Hope website!

http://www.hope.edu/pr/gallery/devos.html

When I first looked at the pics, I thought the wood floor was going to be a diagonal pattern, which would be hot... and very unique. (Also possibly initially disorienting... can you say home court advantage?) Oh well, still having fun with the updates... and it really looks great! Definitely some "the best Arena in D3 ball" potential here. :)

Uh, but, yet, at the time, the article was new news.  By the time you read it, yes, there was information at the Hope site.  Perhaps you didn't mean to come of sounding snippy, but, well...

True Basketball Fan

Just curious, how many fans on average will attend games this year at Hope?  I know they'll be sold out for the first several, mainly because of the newness.  Does anybody think it'll be full when Alma comes to town? or Olivet?

Mr. Ypsi

I won't hazard a guess on a specific number, but, unless Calvin makes a sudden HUGE jump in attendance, I think Hope has guaranteed themselves the national d3 attendance championship again - their average should be higher than IWU's Shirk Center's (legal) capacity!  [Hope, IWU, and Calvin have been the top three nine years in a row, though the order varies.]

Note: I specified the Shirk's LEGAL capacity, since I have heard tales that it is sometimes greatly exceeded for key match-ups!  Don't tell the fire marshall! ;D

i dont think it will be a sold out for the alma and olivet game you schould be able to get tickets for the alma and olivet games

Just heard on the radio (from Tom Renner - Hope SID) that the ESPN special about Hope & Calvin (part of the great rivalries) filmed last year will be airing next week Tuesday (Sept 13th) on ESPN2 at 6:00am.

Great time slot for that... set your VCR's

I'd love to have a copy of that game, great for the archives.  I hope it is a national airing and not a local one, does anybody know for sure?

Flying Dutch Fan

It's a national airing, but not of the game.  It's more of an expose on the rivalry.  ESPN was at both Hope and Calvin for a day last Feb, doing interviews and such.  They were also present at the final Hope/Calvin game in the Civic Center - won by the Dutchmen (couldn't resist).

Hey Pat, how about spreading the news about this show?

My VCR broke this summer  :-\   Has anyone even tried to buy a simple VCR lately, its like trying to buy an 8-track player (for all you young ones, ask your parents what that is).

Guess I'll have to upgrade to recordable DVD.

Should be an interesting show, definately worth viewing.
