the rundown

Adrian 68 Calvin 61

Three in row for Adrian over the Knights, this sets up a nice Saturday afternoon showdown at Hope's DeVos Fieldhouse.

Albion 71 Olivet 64

There's not much surprising in this one, the Britons are probably going to play a bunch of close games, they'll win some and lose some.  As an aside, both of these teams will have fun with Alma, I would not be shocked if both lost a game or two to the Scots.

Trine 65 Kalamazoo 56

I thought this might be a much higher scoring game.  Trine had zero bench points in this one.

A couple of milestones approaching for the Dutchmen, plus one that was reached last night.

David Krombeen had the 200th steal of his career last night.  That ranks him 5th all time, and he only needs 19 more to move all the way up to 2nd.  Joel Holstege's career number of 301 is a bit out of reach.

Both Krombeen and Peter Bunn are quickly approaching the 1000 point mark.  Bunn is currently at 976, and Krombeen is at 924.

Krombeen is also just 3 assists away from 400 - and currently ranks 2nd in career assists at Hope.  As with steals, Holstege's career number (567) is "probably" unobtainable for David.

After the results from last night, I had a couple of questions in my head (yes, I'm listening to the voices)   :o

1. When was the last time Hope scored 100+ points in a road game?  Found that in my own stash of stats.  It was against Trine (Tri-State at that point ) in the 03-04 season.  Hope won that game 116-110 in OT.  Last regulation game of over 100 on the road was in the 02-03 season at Alma, which Hope won 108-79.

2. When was the last time Calvin lost 3 straight to an MIAA not named Hope?  Hope won 4 straight 3 different times between the 02-03 and 07-08 seasons.  If anyone has the answer to this I would love to know.

Calvin lost to Albion in their last meeting of '06-07 (didn't play them in the '07 MIAA tourney) then lost to them twice in '07-08 before winning the '08 MIAA semifinal showdown in Holland.

(Disclaimer:  I've only watched the first three fouls in this clip.)  Has anyone else taken a look at this?  I was primed for something outlandish when they threw around the phrase "flagrant foul," but to me it seems like aggressive play and clumsiness, not worthy of making these kids "the most hated."  What's your take?

Thanks - thought it had been longer than that - but then I have an old man's memory

Watched it earlier this morning, and honestly just felt that while the fouls were hard fouls and uncalled for, they were the result of uncoordination and laziness. Getting to spots late and "hacking" to make up for it seemed like the general trend.

However, as a fan I would have been particularly upset about the put out on the perimeter. (If I recall correctly it was number 4) That one was blatant and completely uncalled for.

Ryan Majerle has enrolled at Grand Valley State, you may all breathe a sigh of relief and put away your angst for now.

True, but I didn't count that as it was a neutral site game

Olivet has an addition to their roster.  6-2 Dylan Roe from Traverse City has transferred from Wooster.

I don't know if he was on the Wooster JV or not as Wooster has little JV info on their site or at least I couldn't find much.  Dylan was honorable mention Class A all-state, he was a pretty good scorer in high school.
