Not only did the loss yesterday cost them a chance at hosting should they win the MIAA tournament, but may have cost them a Pool C if the fail to win the MIAA tournament.

Exactly.

Exactly.

Possibly, Pabegg runs the numbers, this is what he has so far..........

GL  64   01   01    0.6085 0.5252 0.5139 Capital                   012  A w C       20-3 22-3

GL  90   05   05    0.5846 0.5363 0.5317 Carnegie Mellon           044  C 15        14-5 18-6

That would put them around the 8-10 range for C's right now.........the definition of a Pool C candidate means another loss, which could bump Calvin out of the range for a Pool C.

They'll be helped by the fact there is really only 1 strong C candidate from this region (Capital or JCU), any upsets that do not see Capital/JCU or Wooster winning their conference tournaments hurts Calvin's chances.  Even with another loss Calvin will probably be #2 or #3 on the Pool C table from this region.

As an Adrian fan, I couldnt be more excited about the matchup the Bulldogs drew.
I think the Adrian/Albion rivaly is a heated one, and Adrian has had success this year winning on the Brits floor (with Yancey playing)

I think if Adrian can play consistent D and boxes out, this is a game they can definitely win.

Just a question for anyone at the Albion/Alma game...

It appeared from the boxscore that Cruse and Stasiak didnt play.  Are they hurt?? Discipline??

Can anyone out there shed some light!!

Go DAWGS!!!

Maybe Coach Sklar and coach Sovis should worry about the Brits instead of posting on this website.

yeah, good time to point out there is a posts history......

It appears they've deleted their account........... there were numerous posts in the the game requests area representing Adrian college from that poster.

But don't forget that (by definition, except for UAA teams), all competitors for a pool C will also have another loss.  Only a major rash of conference tourney upsets (of strong teams now assumed to have AQ bids) would be likely to push Calvin below the bubble.

Their OWP and OOWP numbers put them on the bubble, not their win percentage.

Joust?

Quote from: Student_senate_president
After much deliberation and research, a name has been chosen for the new mascot.  Student Senate, the Alumni Board, and other administrators were part of the decision process and decided on ... JOUST.

Joust was not only chosen for its fun and fierce tone, but also because of its interesting etymology and rich meaning.

Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French juster to unite, joust, from Vulgar Latin *juxtare, from Latin juxta near; akin to Latin jungere to join - more at yoke. Date: 14th century.

1 a: to fight on horseback as a knight or man-at-arms b: to engage in combat with lances on horseback
2: to engage in combat or competition as if in a joust <jousting debaters> <jousting bighorn rams>

Joust the Knight will UNITE and JOIN the Calvin community together and hopes to raise school spirit to a new level.

"Joust the Knight" ... sounds like my favorite "Dynamite the Clown" -- a proper name, or halftime activity??   ;)

I will say that Joust, do to his/her/its diminutive size, was a kid favorite on Saturday.  Not as intimidating to little kids as the seemingly huge Dutch.  Joust should be a fun addition.

That is great.  Speaking of similar related topics then, do you think that Calvin would ever consider doing something like this? - what about if they had a "Joust the Knight" contest at halftime for fans similar to like what they have at some of the minor league professional baseball games?  i.e. they have those huge padded protective "can-shaped" uniforms and padded sticks and the two opponents go at each other trying to knock the "block" off the top of the others head section.  Calvin could design similar protective gear to simulate a knight's armor and then two fans could have at it! ::) :o  Winner could receive a free hot dog and Calvin pennant for their room at home! ;D  (On second thought, perhaps this would not go over too well there! ;) ::))  Just throwing some thoughts out - at least it would be more exciting than Hope's current mascot - the "old" one was better IMO as is Elmhurst's "BlueJay" who does some crazy antics to the tune of "The Blues Brothers"!

I was at two D1 athletic events this weekend.....(OSU hockey, MSU basketball).......enough with the constant contests, promotions and general annoyances that allow you to have no time to actually talk with the person next to you about what your seeing.  Its out of hand everywhere. ::)
