It makes no difference whether I saw the shot or not.  :)  The point is to get the ball in your best shooters hands, and presently that is Mr. Brink for either a 2 or a 3 pointer.

FWIW:  Did you forget Mr. Brink is the one who hit a 3 pointer with 9 seconds left to even give Calvin the slim chance it had?

Everything else being equal, I would have been delighted to see Jordan Brink toe the arc, pause, and then take a game tying triple at the end of regulation. Sadly, for those of us who actually watched the game, we noticed that Benedictine didn't give Calvin the option after the missed free throw with six seconds left.

Were there not timeouts left?  I would love to see a timeout and actually try to set something up for your best shooters to have a look.  Six seconds is a really long time to settle for, what looked like a borderline desperation shot.

Its been awhile since we've had such an obvious choice for MVP going into a season.  Barring injuries, illness or other weird stuff, Michael McClary has one hand around the plaque and its his to lose.

25.7 pts, 9.2 rebounds, both lead the league while shooting 54.2% FG

We probably have to go back to the Veenstra or Winkle days to find a player so obviously the MVP before the conference play starts.  Albion's Crawford in 2005 was probably in a similar position, but I seem to recall some debate about that one.

Agreed about McClary.  Crawford had a great season in '05, but I don't remember it being such a slam dunk heading into the season like McClary is this year.

Couldn't agree with you more on McClary.  The debate in 2005 shouldn't of taken place because of how obvious the choice was.   I have a feeling McClary will also be debated.

I'm pretty sure Calvin used their last TO after Brink's triple with nine seconds left cut the lead to two points. I can't be certain about that though because the game was played quite some time ago--last year in fact. ;) It was a tough shot but you don't get an open look very often under those circumstances. I also think the defender on Powell's off hand was crowding him a little and even made light contact as Bryan went up.

Crawford's '05 was good, but the league was right to give the award to Travis DePree. Dan Aultman may have been ahead of him too.  ;)

Brink is a little taller and from what I've seen, more able to get off a good shot with a man in his face than Powell.  I've also been impressed with his poise and it seems that he would not be negatively affected by a pressure situation.  I'm also OK with Powell taking the shot, and one of the great things about this roster is that there are several options in this situation where you need a three ball.  Take what the defense gives you, and I'm fine with any of Brink, Powell, Schuster, Snikkers, or Rodts taking it.

I want Danny, Brent, Jordan, Tommy, Bryan. In that order.

Well then, it must be a sellout.  Attendance record stays intact.

Brandon Crawford was the MVP in '06, when he was a senior. There shouldn't have been much debate about that one. Travis DePree won in '05. Crawford was a junior that year, and I think Aultman was a senior. They both had good years, too, but DePree deserved MVP.

BogeyMan

I believe DePree was a 1st team (maybe 2nd team) all-american.  Can't argue that.  That year I thought DePree was better than Aultman.  On a side note does anyone know how many 1st or 2nd team all-americans the MIAA has had and who they were?
