An Adrian roster is up:

http://www.adrianbulldogs.com/sports/m-baskbl/2012-13/roster

whoah!!!, some very important names are missing.  No Delano Collins, Brad Whitby, Dennis Mason or Wesley Reed.

3 upperclassmen. 3 sophomores. 10 freshmen. I'm guessing the newbies are just that good??? That's a ton of turnover for a team that had zero seniors last year.

So we found out why it took so long to get a roster posted. They had to find enough guys to fill it first.

Maybe they all went to Goshen.

Wow, that is some crazy roster turnover.  I have been a big fan of what Coach White has been doing with the Adrian program the past few years and actually had decided that my preseason MIAA predictions were going to be 1. Calvin 2. Adrian 3 Hope.  Now that I see the roster composition, I'm going to change my mind and move Hope back up to my #2 spot, with clear separation between the top 2 and the rest of the MIAA.  I'd be interested to hear from anyone with insight into the Adrian program what on earth is going on over there--academic issues? dissatisfaction with coaching? not wanting to pass the ball seven times before being allowed to shoot?

It's also noteworthy to see a higher percentage of the roster from metro Detroit than an MIAA roster has probably ever had.

And actual Detroit, for that matter.

Goshen fans might not find it so funny. Then again, I've never met a Goshen fan so that is pure speculation on my part.

And as long predicted, no Richaud Pack either. It's hard to believe the coaches think this could be the no. 2 team in the conference. It makes far more sense to put Trine no. 2 than Adrian.

I actually did think it was funny and enjoy some of Larry's comedy I thought it was an appropriate response...... probably says more about me more than anything.  :)

Goshen's 4-0 I think they're happy with the roster changes

Are North Central folks certain that that College of Faith will bring a team to play Hope in their tournament on Friday?

Saturday's game should be a contrast--playing a top DIII team on its home floor.

120 years ago this is pretty much how most college athletic programs got their start.  People played when they could and they would travel to some strange places to play some strange teams.   In that sense you have to admire what College of Faith is doing in these times, especially considering their campus is basically a server.

This story further confirms what many have unfortunately been anticipating for Hope's first "game".  This will basically be a Varsity program playing against an intramural team.  Only one thing I am looking for in that game - NO INJURIES

Men's All-Sports Standings: 1. Hope 43. 2. Calvin 42. 3. Adrian 38. 4. Trine 30. 5. Albion 20. 6. Alma 18. 6. Olivet 18. 8. Kalamazoo 15.

How are the standings for Commissioner's Cup tabulated?  Looking at the fall season sports standings, how is Hope ahead of Calvin?

WOTS is 800+ Calvin students attended a Midnight Madness event last night. There is, apparently, a big push to get students in the seats at games -- Van Noord could use a change in student participation culture.

I was at the Midnight Madness last week and it was great to see so many students out there to support the teams.  They did introductions of the men's and women's teams and then each scrimmaged against themselves a few times throughout the night.  The men consisted of trying to throw down as many dunks as possible which was pretty fun to watch.  They mixed in some games to get the students involved as well, including a student draining a half court shot for books for the semester.

If the students keep up the great work they have been doing for the volleyball team it could be a really fun year for the student section.
