Marietta lost to Wooster and moved up 1.
DePauw lost to WashU and moved up 1

DePauw actually lost ground in the voting points, and Marietta picked up a few by losing by 3 to the #4 team.

I just thought it was odd that Calvin would move into the Top 10 (and gain votes) after suffering a 19 point loss to a yet-unranked NAIA. That said, Calvin's 392 voting points would have been good for only #11 in last week poll.

As for the rankings, especially at this point in the season: who cares?

You, apparently, enough to make a comment.

It's just interesting. That's all this board is, discussion by which we're entertained.

A few comments I made about the Cathage/Cardinal Stritch game...

Interesting game tonight in Kenosha between the Red Men and last year's NAIA D2 national champions - Cardinal Stritch.  The Wolves are currently ranked #4 in NAIA D2.

The Wolves are 7-2 with losses @ NCAA D2 UW-Parkside and @ NAIA D2 #19 St. Francis (IN).  They have a win over NCAA D2 Winona State.

Cardinal Stritch is led by 6-3 Sr G Derek Semenas (19.6 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 3.9 apg) and 5-11 Jr G Tony Smit (13.6 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 5.2 apg).  In the frontcourt they start a 6-7 F and a 6-9 C.

Carthage is probably a 7-8 point underdog at home in this one - heck, maybe more.

Elmhurst 78  Kalamazoo 75

Elmhurst led by double digits for about 30 minutes.  K made a nice effort to get it under 10..........and somehow get it to 3, livestats said 73-66 final but apparently it was not and K kept chipping away.

The Red Men and the Thunder both looked strong tonight.  Calvin and Hope will need to bring their "A" games if they want a decent showing this weekend in the CCIW/MIAA Challenge.

Kzoo's Mark Ghafari scored 41 again last night, that's twice this year.  I'm pretty sure this is the first multiple 40+ point games from an individual in this league for quite sometime.

Honderd maybe?

No doubt about that.

Gotta wonder if the MIAA gains an additional advantage (on top of being the host league which has always been big) with both CCIW teams playing 3 games in less than 72 hours.  Yes, I know they are young and fit, but thats a significant amount of effort in a really short time - especially the short turn around from Friday night to Saturday afternoon (this year it's Carthage's turn with the really short turnaround - 8pm game on Friday, 1pm game on Saturday)

Mark Ghafari  has to average 20.9 points per game to break Kalamazoo's single season scoring record of 577 by John Schelske set in 1982.  That seems within reach

Mark has a really good chance at finishing as Kzoo's #5 all-time scorer, and number 4 probably isn't out of the question either.

1.   John Schelske           1,712
2.   Jeremy Cole              1,644
3.   David Dame              1,619
4.   Ron Barczak              1,543
5.   Dirk Rhinehart          1,396

18.  Mark Ghafari            1,100

Overall conference record vs D3 is being tracked by hopefan on another part of the board.  I can't think of another way to show just how badly the league has been struggling to this point.
