Remember where HopeConvert received his foundational education?

Yes, It's almost as if he's been wandering in the desert since he left.   ;)
Actually, I was wandering while I was receiving my foundational education. It's all very sad.

Of course it's sad HC. Look where it got ya. ;) All this discussion within the agora has you writing in tautologies. ::)

I like to think it had a happy ending.

Tautologies are simply the surest way to insure that your conclusions follow from your premises. They're very useful. Do I repeat myself? Then I repeat myself. I don't contain multitudes.

A Hope loss would be great tomorrow.
An Olivet win would be good Saturday.
I'd like to see GVW get #202 instead of 600 on the 12th.

Even I understand tautologies.  ;)

Another GVW article:

I found his statement "you don't get into this profession to win games" somewhat odd.  I understand everything else he is saying but to me you would get into coaching to teach, compete and win.

TO me, it makes more sense when you look at the entire quote:

"I didn't even think about it until Mr. Renner said going into the season that I was getting close to 600," Van Wieren said of Hope's sports information director Tom Renner. "You don't follow those things as a coach. You just live one game to the next and one season to the next.

"I never thought I'd get to 300. You don't get into this profession to win games. You do it for the journey, for the relationships, for the people around you and because you love the place you're at. The minute you start getting focused on individual stats, it's time to turn the lights out."

That's the way we usually go - typically take about 2 hours.  Our son has attended McCracken camps at Olivet for several summers, so it's a very familiar drive for us.  Only thing I would add is if you want to eat before the game, you should probably stop closer to Lansing - more choices.

Any suggestions for vittles on the way home?  No pizza or Subway, either, please.  ;)

Applebees and a Big Boy in Charlotte, The Gavel downtown is a nice mom and pop place.   TGIF and Bennigan's off  Saginaw exit in Lansing.  More restraunts further East down Saginaw Hwy......., Cheddars, one of the Texas steak franchises, another Applebees, Finley's, those are all closer to the Lansing Mall.  To the West  Bob Evan's, Perkins.

Three more halfway to the mall.........Outback, Red Robin and Carraba's

I heard Mike Turner tore his ACL.

Wow, if that's true its an absolute shame. I wish him a speedy recovery. When I saw the sequence occur where he was knocked down and into the first row I immediately thought to myself that there was a good chance he may have torn his ACL or broken his leg. Its one of those freak accidents that always seem to end up with an unfortunate injury because its so unexpected. Plus he could barely walk back down the bench to a chair and then spent the rest of the game rubbing his knee.

I hope the injury doesn't have a negative effect on Albion's team. I get the impression that Turner is someone who will want to be back coaching as soon as possible.

The more I think about Wednesday nights Hope/Albion game the more I realize it looked an awfull lot like the WashU and Wittenberg tournament games the last two seasons.  Its actually the 3rd really tough defensive game Hope's won this season with Aquinas and Roanoke being the other two.  Something positive to think about going into a game with Olivet, the #3  defense shooting percentage wise in the league.

The flip side is, offensively Hope seems less reliant on the 3 point shot to win games than last season, but still needs those shots to fall to have an effective offense.

Today's games
I like the Albion/Kzoo game to be much closer than people think and possibly even an upset.  Not sure where Albion's heads are today,  this might be tough game to concentrate on.

Otherwise, it looks like the road teams are all favorites, but it sure seems like a home team should win one game today.

Be safe and enjoy the games.

If we're comparing it to Witt & WashU, it must have been ugly.  But I'll take it as a good sign that Hope was able to win such a game.  That was the most frustrating thing about those two tourney games - Hope could have won, but didn't.

Wish I could be in Olivet today (did I really just say that?)...  maybe next Saturday (at DeVos, not Olivet!).
