No weddings on holiday weekends. Air travel is more expensive, roads are congested, hotels are booked.  Besides, weddings are fun, holidays are fun... why combine them?

Unless you wanted a BBQ themed wedding? Bride and groom statue on top of a heap of pulled pork.

OK - Realistic has a question for the LLPP.

All this BBQ talk has me extremely jealous.  What is the ettiquitte (sp) on Weddings over holiday weekends?  No bbq's for me, as I am headed to a wedding this weekend.  It is going to be a good time, but I hate having to turn down 2 BBQ invites and an invite to the Jersey Shore.

Regs BIGGEST pet peeve of all times is weddings over a holiday weekend or during a break.

Case in point, MR's cousin or something was getting married over 4th of July weekend?!?....NO WAY!!
2 years ago, we had to go to TWO weddings on memorial weekend.  Luckily they were over the same weekend (Friday in NY and Saturday in Hotlanta).  Reg was so pissed, but eventually gave in.

Note to anyone reading this.....DON'T have a weeding over a holiday weekend.  While it may seem like you are trying to help people to give them an extra day to travel......this sucks and noone wants to give up their weekend of relaxing drinking and grilling for a suit and uncomforatble hotel bed.

gro - exactly.  I know I am gonna have a great time at this one (both went to college with me) but I knew I would have had fun at the BBQ's too.

btw - +K for the pulled pork "cake"

Don't give in to that "I'm going to have a great time" crap!  This is your time.....suntan lotion, bikinis, and beer.....

Why would you want to spend it doing the dollar dance and pounding well drinks in some reception hall?

'Gro,

Thanks for the props on Bishop's Brew.

For The Rev's 10th reunion, he struck a deal with the Matt Brewery in Utica to label some Saranac Summer Ale with the Bishop's Brew label.  The Rev brought 12 cases to Reunion and passed the bottles out.  The school president took a six-pack.  He loved it.  (The "deal" was easy.  Fred Matt is a Hobart grad.)

No beer for The Rev this weekend.  he is on duty patrolling Lake Powell, a huge lake on the Utah/Arizona boarder.  If anything truly interesting happens, The Rev will notify the LLPP.

Too bad The Rev isn't going to Lake Havasu.  That is an eye-popping and mind-boggling experience that makes Girls Gone Wild seem like an episode or Romper Room.

You guys are right....absolutely right.  But, alas I will make the best of it and treat the open bar like a red headed step child.

Agreed, in fact, save yourself a $2 dollar invite and a 41 cent stamp.

Relax SNOBulator... what's wrong with well drinks when they are free? Whats wrong with a hotel bed when you're hammered?   A good wedding is just as good as a holiday.  It's not like real's going to his cousins brother in law's roommates wedding.  What sucks, and we're all in agreement on this, is that you have to miss one for the other.  Bad move by the wedding planners.

Garnet, U89, et al: Reg will be in contact for his sweater vest and a good bottle of cabernet sauvignon.

pbr see's your point gro but what if bro gro scheduled his wedding on new years day at 4pm? mind you mrs. bro gro says that is what she wants and bro gro caves in and schedules it? would gro be willing to miss all the new years day festivities and bowl games....

Well PBR you are talking about the holiest of college football holy days while the doofuses that schedule holiday wedding are usually around memorial day, the 4th, and labor day. Hypothetically Brother gro would have to put on a spetacular wedding of all weddings to pull it off on new years day.

Gro proposes to expand the man law to ban all weddings from November through January. Money is tight and travel is hectic during the holidays. And that november wedding didn't work out for axel rose... but it made for a kick ass video.

You'll remember a good wedding forever.  Gro doesn't know what he did on memorial day 2003.

You see PBR, this is why Reg thinks Gro needs to get out a little more.

While Reg thinks good weddings are good, he isn't a huge fan.  Oh well.....at least I haven't gotten any invites for a summer '07 wedding.

'gro

gro is currently building a time machine so he can go back and unattend Reg's wedding...
