2)  The quote in the article is a bad example...there were bigger charges against that team, including assauly.

You ever get in a fight before?  If someone found out you're a full scholarship athlete at Duke, it sounds like assault to me...

PBR...

funny story while pbr was visiting friends at univ of delaware...pbr and group of guys are in a  girls dorm for early cocktails before heading out to frat parties for the night. needless to say there are only girls bathrooms in the dorm and lots of girls using the toilee's....so pbr and 2 friends find a empty room and proceed to use a window since we have to go REALLY bad next thing u know pbr's friend says dood check it out the bushes are moving down there(we were heavily intoxicated and we were on the third floor...)  by the time we got back into the hallway the campus security is charging down the hallway and a female campus cop is screaming at pbr's friend saying that's him get him... pbr looks at her navy blue coat and its soaking wet as well as her hair...pbr now realizes what happened and is LMAO while pbr's friend gets marched off....pbr still is amazed she was able to pick him out immediately in the hallway with a ton of college students prancing around

Not true, Reg just knows where all the LAX players post about how bad they are!

'gro

The late night college antics of gro, reg, and LD would certainly warrant a spot on someone's LAX roster.... CONCRETE!!

TGP- please explain why it is unfair to the rest of D1?

Did they get THAT much better in 1 year?  Reg doesn't get it....the season was shut down...right?

b/c duke is already loaded talent wise and they'll be 2x as good next season?!?!  ;)

seriously though, unfair may be too strong a word, but this decision opens up a can of worms:

"I just think, on the surface, it just appears that the N.C.A.A. didn't put any thought into this whatsoever," [UVA coach Dom] Starsia said. "One of their prestigious institutions, that happens to be a player in a major sport, asked for something involving lacrosse, and they gave it to them."

"Everybody in the lacrosse world was embarrassed by what happened," [Starsia] said. "But it almost feels now as if nobody's really paying for this thing. I would've been the first to say that Reade Seligmann and Collin Finnerty probably deserved another year. But I'm not sure that everybody involved here should be painted with the same broad brush and it just seems that's what the NCAA chose to do.

"Most of these wounds seem to be self-inflicted at Duke. I'm not sure if the institution has kind of held itself accountable for everything that happened," he added.

Princeton Coach Bill Tierney said there were some unanswered questions, including whether Reade Seligmann and Collin Finnerty, two of the players cleared of the charges in the rape case who did not return to Duke, would also get an extra year of eligibility.

"There's a huge pink elephant here," Tierney said. "What about Mike Pressler? What about Reade and Collin? Will their new schools be able to put in for the year? What about the competitive disadvantage that happens to a team that may now have to play against all these guys? The overriding factor for me is that I know this thing is just starting."

That's sour grapes from competing coaches.  Those kids were potentially robbed of a national championship last year.  Duke made a mistake in pulling the plug, and placing the blame so quickly.  The kids deserve to play.

TGP agrees it's sour grapes to an extent, the fact Duke is basically getting off without any culpability is really the issue IMO.

The players' season was robbed by Duke, not Nifong.

Agree to disagree.

Hindsight is 20/20

Hopefully all "working class women" stay away from anyone in the LLPP.
