Fantastic grilled cheese at Hooters....absoutly fantastic.

Holy sheet.  JT just got his Rutgers season tix invoice.  A little success gives way to a one year price hike of 50% on each seat from $20 to $30 in 2008.  And a 100% increase in parking passes $10 to $20.   A waiting list of over 10K sure gives them the stones for this.

But JT is thinking that this still ain't Penn State, Notre Dame, Alabama, Florida etc., just yet.  It is an atmosphere that is building nicely, but it remains to be seen what happens post Ray Rice.

JT was thinking a $5 bump on each is more than fair.  $20 on parking is more than both the Jets and Giants.

JU has had Boston College season tickets in the past and endzone seats go four about $400 as a package.  But in the ACC I have found out is that people from these other schools (not including ND you can get more for those) will always pay $100 a ticket for that game.  So if you just give up one or two games a year, you can make money.  And its even legal through the website that will buy them back from you (or exchange them)

Edit:

And I dont know about other stadiums but BCs stadium is very close to the field.  And I think you can see much better from the high endzone than from the low endzone or corner endzone.  I did see the Miami/BC game last year from about 4 rows up in the corner and it was pretty cool though when the action is in that endzone.  But lower seats directly in back of the enzone are tough because you often times are too low to get a good feel for gains or losses on runs by teams running at you.

JT thinks the his endzone seats might actually be better than many yardline locations, because all 22 are right in front of you and half the time the game is coming right at you.  But he also thinks that Rutgers might be rushing to make them $50 ish seats in 2010 while making between the 30's about $80.  Between the 30's was $45 in 2007.  Tickets prices are no longer listed on web so JT is not sure how much the $45 seats were jacked.  Rutgers was probably well aware of the secondary market in 2007, which was pretty good.  Paid for both 2007 and 08 for JT.  Hopefully they don't price them out so there's little aftermarket profit.

JT view is a tad closer than this.  This pic was taken at about the 24th row.  JT has 4 seats in the 14th.  Sometimes will sell all 4, occasionally will sell two.  Will probably go to 4-5 out of seven games in 08.

JU got to see the 1993 BC/West Virginia game (the year BC beat #1 ND and was looking for big bowl) and it was horrible.  I was 5 rows up from the field and could not tell if the teams were losing or gaining yards or if people were open or not

Then I had season tickets with these seats (And still do actually) I like being able to see the whole field even though you arent as close

Then I saw the BC/Miami game from here this year.  It was cool to be close but action on the far end of the field I was lost.

Interesting discussion on tickets fellas.  TDT has been dabbling in selling tickets to a variety of events (Twins Spring Training, The Masters, Cubs bleacher seats, etc.) lately.  Just sold 4 of my Monday Masters tickets for $775.  Bought for $124, clearly one of the best gigs in the business.  Love the Red Sox and Yankees fans.  They are crazy and $$ is no object for a "big" February Spring Training game.  I smile when I watch on TV and see no starters on the travel roster and lots of scrubs in the game by the 4th inning.  TDT has been using Craigslist and meeting locally (most of the time) for cash only.  Really sweet not to pay any fees to Ebay, Paypal, StubHub, etc. which can add up quickly.

JT,

TDT knows you do some ticket brokering on the side.  I completely agree with you about "outpricing" the aftermarket profit by teams.  I can see it happening for Spring Training as the prices have gone up %-wise significantly in recent years.  Unless the Yankees or the Red Sox are playing the Twins there are definitely games where it can be tough to move seats.  At $22 face/each, I can imagine a day when they are $30/each.  People won't crazy about paying $50/each for 3 innings of Sal Fasano, Denny Hocking, and Doug Mientkiewicz if you know what I mean.  I am curious if you have any advice for the rookies.

JT has been busy and less into the ticket brokering biz.  Right now, he tries to do enough so that he attends events for free and maybe throw a little into the vacation fund.  Best advice would be to understand where less competition is, but still within driving distance from major cities ie, the FMJT is a huge Michael Buble fan (JT thinks he's pretty good).

So JT skips Atlantic City, NYC, Foxwoods etc., and goes for Albany.  Got 4 in the 9th row center from the internet as soon as tickets went on sale.  Just sold two and paid for the whole trip.  No presale BTW.... just a straight sale

1) Know the market, team, performer.  Buble is great because teens to 80's love the guy. He hits the under 20K arenas, and only stays one night and moves on.

2) Practice makes perfect.  JT seats generally get better each time out.  Now FMJT can rush the stage at the encore.

3) Subscribe to the a presale password site that can give you most of the presale PS the day before. Most are about $25-30 per month.

4)  Don't take a big chance on what you don't know.  Buy a couple pair and test.  JT lost $1000 on Melissa Etheridge once.  She was coming back from breast cancer and it was her first tour back.  She was doing the forum at MSG for two shows.  JT figured the high gay population would drop big coin on this.  Only presale was though Cablevision.  Got 8 orchestra for one day and 8 more orch on day two.  Three days later they add three more shows and the aftermarket goes to sheet.

Not only that but JT was forced to go to the venue, and scalp to a bunch of butch gals in Jeter jersey's.  Salvaged about a grand, but JT hates doing the venue action.  Vow not to do it again. But it would have been two grand if JT didn't do it.

JT is a largeseller on Stubhub so he gets an extra day, plus he can buy stubhub tix without the 10% buyer fee. Ebay is a crapshoot because you have sellers that ruin a good market by selling at low prices.  JT prefers Stubhub.

If you are buyer of tix... there are two ways to get a good price.

1) Ebay - If you are flexible.  Look for buyers that can email tix the day of the show.  Always check for a lot of good feedback and ticket sales experience.

2) Stubhub - Small sellers have their tickets drop off 72 hrs before show time. And largesellers drop off at about 48 hrs.  Look for tickets near the cutoff point.

For example.... Saturday football game:

Small sellers get their tickets dropped between 1-3pm Wednesday.

Largesellers get their tickets dropped between 1-4pm Thursday.

Good stuff JT.

Id be suprised if these BC season ticekts for $350 (I just got em again actually after I posted it) wont be eaten up by sellers in the boston area.  Those ND tickets HAVE to go for $200 each for that game and the Clemson seats would probably fetch $100 each easy as well.  Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech and then Maryland also should have fans that would buy tickets.  Im not too sure about the Central Florida or Rhode Island crazies though.
