Cody Leach, son of former longtime head coach and offensive mastermind Mike Leach, has joined the Centenary football staff as the Offensive Line/Special Teams Coach, Director of Athletics and Recreation David Orr announced.

While we're on the coaching side of things, Kenny Treschitta, who was tabbed to be the HFC at Schreiner before mysteriously disappearing early in the year, has popped up as DC at Elmhurst.  At least that's what his Twitter profile says - the school website currently doesn't list a DC.  He started reposting Elmhurst football content a couple of weeks ago.

Cory Hogue will be hosting a non-FBS football podcast on Wednesdays starting August 20th.  Great to hear that he will continue to be engaged in covering the sport!

McMurry is spending $14.4M to build a new athletic training complex; the 52,000-square-foot complex will serve six sports, including men's and women's soccer, track and field, and cross country, and will feature locker rooms, offices, a turf practice field, and a champion's gallery.  The school is adding both women's flag football and wrestling to the sports it currently offers.

Guess we know where some of that ASC transfer money is going.   $9M has been raised; a $2M challenge grant was just issued, and the school hopes to begin construction early next year and complete the facility by April 2027.

Well that's interesting, I didn't realize that Jess Hoel had pulled himself out of the portal so that's certainly gonna make McMurry dangerous this year in their final season in the SCAC.

I've been having a heckuva time confirming whether some of the "Players to Watch" are coming back or not, but in Jess's case, I'm pretty confident he's coming back. He retweeted a McMurry graphic with his image right before camp started.

TLU is a very narrow first in the SCAC coaches' preseason poll, with a single first-place vote separating them from McMurry.  Conference play begins October 11th.

6 ballots 21 points per ballot (6+5+4+3+2+1 = 21 pts) = 126 points

33 +32 + 22 + 18 + 12 + 9 = 126

This does not add up. Ron is right. Someone did not tally the 6th non TLU/McM 1st place vote correctly.

1) TLU (3) 33. 6+6+6+5+5+5 = 33
2) McM (2) 32. 6+6+5+5+5 Oops! There are no more 2nd places votes to cast. (My guess is 31 points, 6+6+5+5+5+4)


And then you get 3) Hx  23  6+4+4+3+3+3 is what you have left if you calculate TLU, CC, AC and Lyon first.

4) CC  18. 4+4+3+3+2+2
5) AC  12. 4+3+2+1+1+1
6) Lyon 9. 2+2+2+1+1+1
