Danzig is really upgrading the Royals schedule.
No more Bard, Sarah Lawrence or Pratt.
Heard he was working a clinic in Lansing this summer on the topic of "The Joys Of Offensive Rebounding, & he was able to get Tom Izzo to book the Royals.

They're headed to York College & there was never an invite to Lansing.
Anything to do with offensive rebounding was a dream as well.

York's nickname is the Spartans; Classic means the opponents are predetermined as differentiated from a tourney where the losers of the 1st game play each other in their 2nd game as do the winners.

The non-conference schedule is an upgrade. Lehman was 19-8. DeSales a down year at 13-12, Neumann 20-8. Kings was 11-12, but they aren't going to not play them. Stevens 19-8 and seemingly becoming a regular non-conference mate. Centenary 11-15, and Ursinus and Naz both 17-10. Potentially all 50-50 games. Overall, an upgrade of years past.

Scranton never recovered from this loss, leading to giving up football 16 years later in 1960.

Pete Carlesimo was the head coach in this game as he was til 1960. He was the AD when I began in '62 and there were still football players attending class then. Pete's son PJ was a soph at Scranton Prep then. We shared the CYC as a home court, practicing after PJ's team was done in the early afternoon.
Pete became a renowned after-dinner speaker and appeared on the Johnny Carson Tonight Show(New York City version).
